Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. LithuaniaIt had really bad smell inside. We kept windows opened but it wouldn’t help. There were big yellow spots on the walls from which you can tell that there was a mold recently. Also, the apartment could have a basic cleaning at least. There were loads of crumbs left on the cabinet and you could see that floor wasn’t cleaned too.
Good location of the property. Food store, restaurants and public transport stations were close.

UkraineThere were no instructions on the room number or the room code, how to find the key etc. I was just lucky to see by accident some of the ppl who live and work there to help me check in. The bed sheets a kind of old. There were some hair on the floor, clogged shower (however no issue with shower pressure and hot water), smelly bathroom (i guess bc they are still renovating) and minimal renovation was done. Also it’s only cash and I do not have a European account and prefer to pay by card.
People who manage the apartment live downstairs(however they are quite noisy) so there is someone there on the spot to give you the keys. My room had a missing window door so it was impossible to completely close it and the street can be noisy because there is a tram that passes by. I asked to have another room where the window actually close and the host was nice enough to let me change. The host also provided an iron and a hairdryer upon request. It’s not in the room normally. It’s around 30 min with public transport to the center which I did not mind. There was also tea and minimal kitchen supplies which was nice too. In general it’s worth the money if you don’t expect too much.

NetherlandsThe place is rented as an apartment but has nothing but a sink and a very small kettle, the shower is ok but the water does not run out and you are in a poodle, the light is brutal and the internet was only available for our telephone not for the laptop and there is no sofa nor comfortable chairs and no TV either so not any kind of room entertainment, we feel like we have to be out all the time and just arrive to the place to sleep, we think it could be improved.

PolandEverything we dont like it telling us 3pm is check-in we arrived past 3pm already but still the room is not prepared dirty and not clean we arrived in place when that the time they clean and cleaning is not good even no put liquid in cleaning not conventient for the guest we are expecting when we arrived all is set clean and we can occupied but its not we wait for the person finish cleaning while we already at the room its unpleasant to the guest. We arrived like this in the photo before they clean it. Poor service

BulgariaThe room was very dirty. Even the pillow was dirty. The sheets were dirty too. The smell of cigarettes was awful. There is no fresh air because you are on floor 0 (zero) and nobody tells you that the window is going to be on the same level as the road.
