Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustriaWe have stayed in other JUFA’s where the food offer was bigger so we were expecting a bit more on that side, it was still delicious and lovely to wake up on Easter with some chocolate and snacks for our dog on our table The shower-head could be replaced for a new one
Really pretty on top of a hill, amazing views, great for the dog, quiet and calm. The crew was also lovely, very nice, caring and it’s a GREAT hotel if you travel with your dog

SloveniaBathroom upstairs! The layout of the room was a bit strange. But that is what you get, when staying in a castle, I guess.
Breakfast was okay. We were visitng in the winter months, but the room and the dining room were nice and warm. Loved the view of Admont from our room. The room was clean.

SlovakiaThe only thing we missed was the possibility of dinner directly at the accommodation
Beautiful surroundings, also the accommodation itself was exceptional with beautiful views, good breakfast and helpful staff. We were also with a dog who was more than welcome there. We enjoyed our stay very much and recommend it to everyone who wants to feel like in a castle.

United StatesThe rooms had a dormitory feel. very bland for a hotel in a castle. There is nothing around and the only food served there is not so good pizza in the evening.
Great location and extremely clean. Bathroom was great. The staff was very nice and friendly. Great value

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent and extensive and staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room, in one of the round towers, was large with many windows to spectacular views of the countryside below and mountains beyond. The bathroom and room were very clean. The hot water took some time to come through. Would definitely recommend just on the scenic location and being able to stay in a castle!

BelgiumWe had a great stay at Hotel Schloss Röthelstein. We visited on our way to Croatia en had an amazing time here. The view was beautiful and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Next to that, it was one of our friends birthdays and they foresaw something on the room which was a special surprise and nice gesture that made his day. Overall it was a nice experience and we will come back.

NetherlandsRestaurant area is big and in personal. Not a nice area at all to sit. Breakfast and dinner (both buffet) not nice at all, poor quality and limited choice. Place really needs maintenance, love and care
Location and terrace area are very nice. Unlike some of the other reviews mentioned we found the staff very helpful and friendly. Nice gesture (unprompted by us) at breakfast table for my partner that celebrated his birthday.

United StatesAdd **Aigen** to address on booking site. No place to sit and view The Valley below.
Loved the castle!! Loved the village! We wished we could have had a veranda overlooking the beautiful valley below. The hotel address NEEDS to add the first word {Aigen} Because the GPS took us to another address one hour away!! * *Please fix address*

United StatesBeautiful property and view of the mountains. If you are taking the OBB train to Admont, make sure you have a bike rental or car rental to get to the property. There is no hotel shuttle, but it was a fantastic walk/hike up the mountain nonetheless.

AustraliaWi-Fi signal was no good in the room, but it was a blessing anyway, nice to put the phones away for a few days.
This place is surreal. As soon as you see the castle from below, you know you’re staying somewhere special. A spectacular setting with basic but large rooms and a great breakfast. The bar is excellent too. We stayed here to commute to the Austrian GP, which was a very easy one hour drive. Admont itself is beautiful as well.

HungaryThere was no transfer to the hotel organized for those who use public transport like us. We could have preferred a lighter blanket which could not be supplied.
We had fantastic breakfasts. The hilltop location was excellent for hiking. We particularly liked the historic atmosphere, the knights' room, the chapel and the smoky kitschen.

United KingdomFirst we didn't have proper heating in our room as the radiators were full of air, but after talking to the receptionist they sent a handyman to fix the issue quite quickly so it was all sorted in a couple of hours. Exterior of the hotel needs some maintenance. Windows/façade..etc. A kettle would have been nice to have in the room.
I really liked our room, which was in one of the towers. Very unique place to stay. The hotel is huge with a pretty interior (nice conference room). The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was nice too. Breakfast was good. We stayed there a week ago (mid April) for three nights. It wasn't busy at all (little bit deserted, which I didn't mind). We took a nice walk in the surrounding pine forest and one day it was snowing which made the forest even more beautiful.

AustriaThis hotel is a renovated castle and it is simply cool. There is a small medieval chapel, and a medieval grilling room which really enhances the hotel's atmosphere. The onsite cafe which overlooks the valley has spectacular view.
