How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Equipment in the shared kitchen was sparse. A dish towel (or at least a drying rack) and dishwashing soap would have come in handy.
Super friendly check-in (even ahead of the official check-in time), quiet yet central location. Other guests were very respectful (no noise after 10 pm, clean shared kitchen)

The price seems a bit too high, even though it is quite cheap compared to other properties in the area.
I was very pleased with my room. It was equipped with a great working area, a spacious bathroom and a beautiful view from the window overlooking the mountains. Everything was very clean and well-maintained. The staff were super friendly, polite and helpful. I would love to stay at this place again if I ever come back to the area.

We felt the price was high for a dorm room on a school campus. This property is not a hotel.
Clean, newly remodeled, pleasant staff, good storage for bicycles.

Wifi a bit complicated to setup, but then it worked well with iPhone. Even together with the staff we did not get it working for our iPads. But it worked well with Android Tablets for other guests. Minor issue, but our iPads never had a problem at other sites.
Friendly staff and interesting atmosphere. Breakfast was great.

Internet was unreliable. Would not stay connected.

The sign for the hotel was quite discreet and we missed it, but we figured it out in the end.
I would absolutely recommend this hotel. The lady at reception was so friendly and pleasant and showed us around the hotel and even up to our rooms. The rooms were quite basic, but modern. There was everything you could need and were very clean and comfortable. We were only there for one night, but it's a beautiful area and I think it would be a good base for trips. We didn't have breakfast, but when I passed through it looked good. Good free parking.

smell in breakfast room like in old school kitchens 30 years ago. Maybe everything was clean but odour was awful.

the fact that this isn’t a true hotel in all honesty it’s more like a half way house for teenagers, and they can be extremely noisy. This should be advertised.

Rooms very spartan, we arrived wet and cold having cycled and there was no heating provided. The check in is difficult, you have to phone ahead as the reception isn't manned, but the message is in German, so didn't understand what to do. The building is difficult to find as the entrance looks nothing like the picture on the advert, it turned out that the accommodation is in an adjacent building that can't be seen from the road. Breakfast was ok but everything was cleared by 9am while we were still eating even although check out is not until 11am. This is student accommodation and feels very much like halls of residence. All this would be ok if the price was reasonable, but we paid 122 euros for the night, so it is very overpriced for what it offers.

No complaints. This is Avery clean and friendly and helpful property.
The warden in charge of Kolpinghaus provided me with a wide range of fruit and nuts whilst I was quarantining. He also provided me with a bar fridge for my food.
