Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustriaThe bus gets much less frequent after 21:00 (one every hour 21:00-23:00), and there's almost no options to get groceries or dinner nearby.
The pension is located out of the city on the hills and is close to nice hike/walk areas. During the day getting to city by bus is easy. It is also located in between the city and the lakes all of which are accessible by bus. I asked for vegan options for breakfast and I was very grateful that the host provided me with several options that she specifically got for me.

United StatesDid not know that the sauna/spa wasn’t operational. I was excited about trying it since it was a cloudy/rainy day, but I got cobwebs to the face instead when I opened the door.
Liked that it was out of the city, which provided some amazing peace and quiet on my 3 week Euro trip! However having a rental car probably made getting to and from Pension Nocksteinblick much easier than using public transport. Breakfast was great, and the porch is beautiful for a quiet, relaxing start to your day! Also, there was no tour of the property/amenities from the host when I arrived. It was pretty independent, self check-in, etc. which I didn’t mind.

IndiaLocation is a little far from the main station but frequency of the bus is amazing. Also, you can get a weekly pass for 39 euros which you can use literally everywhere in Salzburg.
The owner of the house are amazing and they gave me a lift early in the morning to the main station which was very sweet of them. Overall for the price paid, it's amazing. Totally worth it!

India1. Wifi didn't work at all. 2. Material for tea/coffee and toletries (shampoo, body wash, body lotion) was grossly inadequate. 3. Host plainly refused help regarding wifi and was reluctant to help with other needs as mentioned in point 2, above.

United KingdomCheck in - key was outside in envelope but it wasn't clear that key also opened exterior door, so ended up ringing the bell to get the owner to come out as exterior door was locked. On check in there was a full ash tray on balcony table- also a half drunk cup of coffee stood in the hallway for more than a day. Not pleasant. Out of the way, nothing really withing walking distance (other than bus stop) and we are prepared to walk a long way. Asked for restaurants nearby as Pension didn't provide evening meals - met with a shrug. Then 2 suggestions- one we couldn't find, one which was closed for their holidays. Ended up on google and driving around until we found somewhere. If you are running a business (and therefore live in the area), you should be able to meet a basic request such as this (even better, have a list of nearby restaurants in the room). More helpful the following day when we were looking at bus timetable to go to Salzburg.
Breakfast included a variety of items but some were left uncovered and there were quite a few flies around, which was off-putting. There was a pool, but due to the inclement weather, we did not use it. Bus stop a 10 minute walk away where you could catch a bus into Salzburg, which dropped you off right next to the Mirabell Gardens (Mirabellplatz). Parking available outside.

1. Breakfast was awesome, the fresh cheese was mouth-watering. Other cheese products were tasty as well. The coffee was good. They had sliced ham, cereals, fruits, and other spreads as well. 2. The location was perfect, just 20 minutes away from the city center, yet at the heart of the mountain. Quite and calm, full of nature. 3. At night you can hear the sound of the nearby mountain stream. Step out on the balcony at night, it will be pitch black, with only some tower at the top of the Nockstein Mountain blip a small red light. Will get the clearest sky in Central Europe. 4. The bus that comes from Salzburg station goes to Wolfgangsee Lake, Bad Ischel and from there one can go to Hallstatt. Would love to go back there. 5. Try to reach there before it is completely dark, or else the approach path from the highway might be a bit spooky as it is covered with trees. It is scary but wonderful.

AustraliaDouble-booked room. No warning. Replacement accommodation did not have pool (main reason for booking Nockstein. and was less accessible.
We didn't get a chance to find out. Our room had been double-booked and we were given no warning, arriving at 3.30 pm to find no accommodation. The hostess was less than apologetic but we did appreciate she had booked another room for us at another hotel but it didn't have the facilities (ie pool) we had booked for and was less accessible (We did not have a car). Very disappointing experience

United KingdomLovely big room with a polished wooden floor and large balcony. We arrived by bus from Salzburg and it was great to be surrounded by trees and meadows, with dramatic views of the Nockstein, yet still only 20 minutes from the city. Also had a great trip in the other direction to Fuschlsee. Had the pool to ourselves and enjoyed a cold drink from the honesty fridge in the evening. Friendly host and good breakfast.
