It's in a nice location central to Güssing with easy access to bigger roads. It was a peaceful environment with horses outside the windows. Friendly owner. Only meal offered is breakfast. It was a nice small buffet with enough food, especially for the price, good coffee and tea. Bar was available any time on an honesty system. Would definitely stay there again. Very good value for money.

The place has magic atmosphere and staff is very friendly and helpful. The owner recommended restaurants and parking place in Güssing for Castle visit.

Not so much dislikes as issues American visitors may want to deal with: this is a place to BYO toiletries: a soap dispenser at the sink was the extent of product available. Internet functions well only in the large common room downstairs, making any updates from elsewhere next to impossible. There is no A/C, and at least in room 5 no cross-ventilation, so despite assurances that the room would cool down at night, only the presence of a fan I borrowed from a friend (& then one I bought for myself for the rest of the trip) made it possible to sleep: admittedly, in the middle of the heat wave of 2022. This location tends to cater to locals, so not an issue they’re readily aware of. All rooms are on the “first-floor” by European definition: I.e. you’re carrying all your luggage up a full flight of stairs.

An active farm with active hosts: a young couple & their three daughters who love animals and especially horses. A reflection of an earlier age, in which common tables on the patio provide guests a chance to visit while enjoying beverages (adult & youthful) from a well-stocked fridge near reception, on the honor system: you list what you take next to your room #. The Austrian-style (cold) breakfast buffet showcases locally/regionally-sourced foods. Ovo-lacto vegetarians will fill up on the filled peppers, the fresh mozzarella w/ basil & tomatoes, and the variety of Müsli, in addition to the home-made jams. Cold cuts also available to complement the fresh rolls. Horse-y activities take the forefront, and if your 12-year-old daughter has graduated from Frozen to horses, call ahead and order a program of lessons and rides. Horses and cats get biographies in the property guidebook. At checkout, the owner “comped” me the soda I had listed on the chalkboard.
