Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. PolandI do not recommend this flat. We booked apartment for 5 people ( as indicated in reservation) however the host prepared bedding and towels only for 3 people. We tried to call on 3 different phones indicated in message but no one ever replied. The smell of mold was really intense. It was impossible to dry the towels after bath, after whole day they were still wet. There are 2 interconnecting bedrooms and one living room with kitchen and expandable sofa, not 3 bedrooms like it was written in description. You had to enter one bedroom and pass it to go to another. There is a problem with warm water. Boiler was not working properly. There was a flow of hot water for 2 minutes and then you had to wait another 5 minutes in cold water. When the bath was longer than 10 minutes there was error showing up on boiler screen and you had to get out of shower and restart it. The place wasn't cleaned properly. The shelves were not cleaned enough. You could see dirt. On dishes you could see stains of someone's fingers and we had to clean all the dishes by ourselves to be sure they are clean.
The location was good and there was nespresso coffee machine with variety of coffee capsules.

BulgariaThe apartment doesn't look even close to what is on the pictures on Booking. It is a groundfloor apartment which was not (and maybe it is still not) indicated in the description, otherwise we wouldn't have booked it. It is super cold and dark place. We had to open the windows to let the warm air enter in and to warm up the apartment. The living room smells like moisture and mould. On the wall, there are exposed bricks, which have to be a design decision, but one can actually see the effects of moisture on the walls. The bedrooms are interconnected, which might be a problem for couples staying. There are only 2 bedrooms, not 3 as written in the description, the 3rd room is the living room. In one of the bedrooms, there were not enough light fixtures given the fact how dark it is. The cleanliness was far from good. The bathroom sink was dirty from the moment we entered in. There were one and a half toilet rolls for 5 people for 3 days, so we had to buy ourselves. There were spots in the fridge, the coffee maker was dirty and had mould. There were spiders and spider nets in the kitchen. Last but not least, the communication with the host was terrible. We were told we would receive check-in information one day before arrival, but we didn't. On the day of travel, we sent several emails to the host via booking, and we got emails back, but there was no any text displayed. Another friend from the group sent messages to the host via WhatsApp to notify that the emails are empty and we do not have any information on how to check-in several hours before arrival. We didn't get a reply. After landing in Vienna, we tried to call, but the host didn't answer and at least replied to the WhatsApp messages and sent us the check-in details. We let the host know that the emails they send are empty and suggested to double the communication channels. In conclusion, we do not recommend this apartment, and we wouldn't book it in the future.
The apartment has a good location. It is a 10-minute walk to the metro stop. By metro, it is 3-4 stops to the city centre. The price was fairly good for the location. The apartment is quiet, even though it is on the ground floor and faces a street. The bedrooms are well furnished. There are many mirrors, which is a plus for a group of 5 girls. And here the positive sides end.

United KingdomThe flat smelled mouldy on arrival so we opened windows to air it out. Woke up feeling awful (headache/sore throat/sore eyes) and contacted the owners and Booking.com to let them know that the walls were damp and the walls had mould. The owners did not respond at all. Booking customer service couldn't do anything until they heard from the owners. We vacated the apartment and notified Booking. We still have not received a refund. In addition, there was no hot water in the kitchen or shower. Also, this is a 2 bedroom apartment where you have to walk through one bedroom to get to the other. There is a pull-out sofa in the living room but this is in no way 3 bedrooms. We have both travelled all over the world and never had an issue with accommodation. This was an appalling experience.
I liked the location of the apartment and it was ideal to have kitchen facilities.
