Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesEverything was perfect.
Beautiful property. Clean and relaxing. Staff was courteous and so cheerful. We took advantage of the free bikes, which were very new with easy to use locking systems. We loved the suggestion list for restaurants and activities. Breakfast was fresh, and I was even able to take some for afternoon snacks on our journey. The room was quiet, and the bathroom was huge. Wish I could have stayed longer. Plan 2 nights for at minimum.

The villa and its garden was very nice and welcomely. The miss who take care of my check in was very polite and helpful. Cleaness and comfort...I would say one of the top 5 hotels I´ve been. Definitely would return again and again. Best part of my stay, was a beer in the small bar all by my own, listening to some jazz music. Sureal.

The Little Guest House is situated in a quiet residential area in an elegant Salzburg building. We were warmly welcomed, given helpful information and offered drinks and cake on arrival. The coffee is excellent and always freely available to guests (as is the cake!). There was also an honesty system for other drinks such as wine and beer. Our room was exactly as described and was spotlessly clean, comfortable and cozy. Breakfast was excellent with many choices including fresh fruits, breads, cheese, meats, cakes and other high quality options. The pleasant walk into town took about 15 minutes alongside the river Salzach, past a park with a small lake with great views of the Fortress Hohensalzburg on one side and the Kapuzinerberg on the other. We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay here and would love to return.

Hungary-
The house is very nice and exactly looks like in the pictures. The room was superb, very clean and cosy. The hosts are friendly, helpful and very kind people. Breakfast is also great, there different types of bread, veggies, meat, youghurt and some sweets as well. The location is quiet, it is not in the centre but very close (15 min walk), free parking in front of the house can save you some money and time. Get the Salzburg Card and you can enter the main museums and access the public transport for free! Overall we would highly recommend The Little Guesthouse!

United StatesI felt it was still a little bit far from the Mozart square then I would have preferred. Felt a bit expensive for the winter weather in Salzburg.
It was a pretty good guesthouse. Very clean and welcoming. It would have been so great in the summer with the attached garden. The hosts were really nice and welcoming. They provided recommendations and were easy to talk to.

United StatesI originally booked my stay for 2021. With Covid protocols, I didn't want to risk getting sick abroad so I postponed my trip to Dec 2022. It was worth the wait! I arrived to Salzburg by train and took the bus to the Little Guesthouse. Sabine emailed me with step by step directions. When I arrived, Mario checked me in and was very kind. I came to Austria mostly for the Christmas Markets and he made sure I knew how to find them! The Guesthouse is a located in a residential area and I took the bus everywhere I went. It wasn't difficult at all taking the bus and I only had to wait a few minutes. Google Maps will be your friend! Also, great breakfast spread. Lisa was always nice in the morning and would offer me a soft boiled egg. Honestly, I loved it. The room had a bottled water, a chocolate wafer, and a tin full of little treats. Oh, and their breakfast area has cake! I hope to come back in the spring or fall and see their garden! Thank you Mario and team for being so kind. You have a beautiful house and it was worth every penny.

SloveniaPerhaps the only thing we didn't like was that the room was a bit chilly, and even that could probably be contributed to the outside temperatures, which were well below 0.
Breakfast was rich both in choice and flavour, staff was extremely welcoming, kind and helpful, the room was comfortable, cozy and clean, the location was perfect, close to the center, yet in a quiet, calm neighbourhood.

AustriaThere was absolutely nothing that we didn't like about this guesthouse. Perhaps it would have been nice to have a good restaurant nearby, but walking to the city center on a warm fall day, along a beautiful Salzach river was pleasant and not too long.
The atmosphere in the room was relaxed and calming, primarily due to the color choices, very cozy bed, and simple, yet elegant furnishing. The bathroom, even small, was practically designed. The charming balcony made a great place for an evening tea and cake (which were complimentary). The pleasant and chatty hostess of the guesthouse was accommodating and made us feel at home. Most importantly, the house feels new and is super clean.

Romanianothing to mention here.
- Quite and safe neighbourhood - Beautiful garden, you can serve a tea or a coffee. There are tables and chairs. - Tea and coffee on the house, at everyone's disposal, in the kitchen, at any hour. The coffee is delicious. - They have a mini bar with wines and stuffs, in the kitchen, you can help yourself and just write your name on a list to let them now you had wine and pay at the end. - Everything is super clean: rooms, kitchen, yard, halls. - The ladies at the reception were super welcoming and well informed. They give you a map and explain you what buses to take, what to visit, where to eat etc. - big bathroom with bathtub - The city center is pretty close, you also have a bus station pretty close. - If we ever visit Salzburg again, we'll stay here again. Be aware: all of the shops close at 6 PM and during Sundays almost everything is closed for the whole day, except for a few restaurants and some souvenir shops.

United KingdomThere was nothing we did not like, such a beautiful place to stay.
Absolutely everything! From when we arrived, with Mario being a most pleasant and accommodating host, nothing was too much trouble at all. Homely, spacious little bit of luxury in a most quiet location. Please do not think this is a fake review, we really can not say how amazing this guesthouse was and can easily recommend to anyone looking to stay close to Salzburg, with all the high end comforts you could wish for, at a great price. Breakfast was a simple and traditional affair, with fresh breads, croissants, fruits, meats and cheeses. Please do not hesitate to book this place if you get the chance and definitely worth the long(ish) walk along the river to the city and back.
