How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The furniture and settings of the room were a little old. Nonetheless, acceptable.
The check-in process was automated but very smooth.

It was much smaller than what I expected and the towels had a horrible chemical smell - I believe it was clean but the smell was very offputting.
It was comfortable for the night, quiet and clean.

The bathroom was a bit weird and the water didn't really drain in the shower.
The location is very close to the main train station, and a 10 minute walk away from the old city. The room was clean and nice and comfortable! for low-budget couples this is a great option in Salzburg. The communication and help from the staff were excellent!

Could of been cleaned a bit better, under the bed there was a lot of dust and an empty lotion container from a previous guest.
The location was perfect, easy check in, stylish rooms, comfortable bed, kind and helpful staff. Highly recommend.

Bed was extremely soft. Definitely not for someone with back issues. Also hotel sits next to very busy street, difficult to fall asleep even with closed window.
Location was perfect. Room was clean and staff very nice and friendly.

Would have loved coffee available in the hotel. No AC but was comfortable with windows open/breeze.
The location is perfect for accessing Salzburg—a 5 minute walk to the gardens and ten minutes to the old town. Rooms were reasonably priced and check in easy. It’s on a Main Street so was noisy at night, but that’s a city. Parking is not available but we were provided a 10 Euro discount to nearby garage park. Our host was very gracious and accommodating— our daughter left her pillow and blanket in the room and it was very quickly shipped to us! Super service!

Cleaning was not good. I could see some hairs on the sheet of the bad and there were some trashes in toilet garbage basket.

Mattresses need replacing, road on front of hotel is pretty loud so the room got quite warm as we couldn’t open the window at night.
Clean, location is great (the breakfast cafe on the corner is great)

The shower drain seems to be clogged..
The hotel is nice, they sell drinks (sodas) downstairs and also have a coffee machine there. One can borrow an electric kettle or an iron. The small room is comfortable enough even for a several days stay. It's close to the city centre and to the station

Terrible hotel as they took my money twice!
Awful service! They charged me twice! I payed cash at the reception and then they took money from my Visa card as well. I wrote them through booking, but they dont reply.

There is nobody at the reception in the evening, you need to write/call.
Location was around 18 minutes walking from old city center. Room was as discribed.

There are many things in our room that were in disrepair. The shower doors would not open or close properly (there was a large gap at the bottom). The bathroom door handle needs to be replaced/repaired. The door to the room sticks and needs to be forced open or closed. The reception desk is only staffed in the morning. So, if you have questions or an issue there’s no one there. The room did not have amenities such as a refrigerator, coffee maker, etc. Also, it would have been nice if they offered onsite breakfast as the cafe next door was closed on the holiday.
Only a 20 minute walk to Christmas market.

Washroom was small but still nice.
Super close to HBF train station. Check-in at any time with key drop box and code. Cute room.

No staff when checking in - only available in the mornings. There was nail clippings and rubbish under the bed. Poor sound proofing from street noise. Toilet seat was broken. Shower took forever to get warm.

Staff was super nice! The location was very nice, short distance to the old town and to the Hauptbahnhof in the other direction. The room was cozy and clean, I liked the vibe. I also travelled during winter time and got a sore throat at the end of my stay, but hot water was easily available for hot drinks and noodle soups 😂
