How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

after 8 pm there was no staff at the hotel our keys stopped working and we got stuck outside the hotel and couldn't get it, we called the number and the guy came after 25 min but he told us we couldn't leave the room because he can't give us his keys, we had dinner planes and unfortunately we stayed at the room for the rest of the night. I suggest they use regular keys if the magnetic ones stop working or at least there will be someone at the hotel to help with these issues.
very friendly staff, the location was very good close to everything and very close to the train station, the room was big and clean. breakfast was good and the people were extremely nice. the area is quiet and relaxing 2 mins walk to the river and 6 mins walk to the gardens overall it was a really nice stay except for one incident

We are staying at Villa Carlton regularly. The service is great , ladies are very polite and ready to help. Rooms are cleam and comfortable. Great location. Nice breakfast!

We loved it all!
We loved the hotel. They upgraded our room to a larger room which was lovely. We really liked the location-We prefer a quieter area- rather than being in the center of Alstadt. It’s only a 5-10 minute walk to the center and we enjoyed walking along the river. We did not choose to have breakfast at the hotel rather we had breakfast at Fingerloos just a few blocks over, excellent food and service. Overall I would give this hotel and location a 10/10!

Everything fine. The room was very large and comfortable. Very good breakfast with sweet and salad food. The position is very close to the city congress and 15 minutes by walk from the city center.

Loocation was fantastic and every member of staff we met was exceptionally efficient and friendly . Nothing seemed to be too much trouble. The rooms were large and tastefully decorated and furnished.

We had to leave Salzburg
What a lovely hotel. 10 mins walk along the river until your in the centre of Salzburg. The staff were so friendly and the chef cooked us a wonderful breakfast and the rooms were absolutely perfect. Thank you

From the moment we arrived at the Villa Carlton, the receptionist was extremely welcoming and looked after us. We had an amazing room, they even provided a kettle upon request, and parking at the back of the hotel was secure. The room itself was large and well equipped. The breakfast was fabulous, large selection of choice and made us omelettes. Perfect stay, thank you everyone at Villa Carlton.

The staff's hospitality was extraordinary, the room was comfortable and beautiful, the bathroom was clean and well equipped, the style of the hotel is unique and just really nice to look at. I truly recommend this hotel to anyone who goes to Salzburg - let it be for business or pleasure.

The parking spaces are limited so we have to park at WiFi garage, 7-10 mins walk to the hotel. There should be a sofa instead of 2 chairs in the living room and maybe a kettle would be nice.
The room is well decorated, nice painting and set up. The location is great, close to Mirabell garden and only 10 mins walk along the river to Altstadt. Staffs are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is good with many selections.

The hotel staff were very helpful and welcoming. The rooms are well appointed with modern furniture & exceptional toiletries. Close walk (10-15 minutes) to the main tourist sites in Salzburg.
