Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

GermanyI had to reach out for the keys on my one. We could have used some coffee pads as there was a great coffee machine.
The apartment is just beautiful! The furnishing was exceptional and overall perfectly clean. The hosts were nice and the contactless checkin is easy to use. The area is quite and relaxing.

ItalyBad experience with the owners, they did not help us in any way despite our serious difficulties. I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND IT! We are appalled by the total lack of humanity and understanding on the part of these cold-hearted owners. 17 days before departure and NOT 3 days before, we asked for free cancellation because at work they denied my husband holidays and we had to give up the holiday we had been dreaming of for a year because the alternative would have been to lose our job and we couldn't afford it...We have already lost all the money for the flights, our only hope was to have a refund for the structure since there were still many days left and we would have helped them find an alternative of guests or advertise their structure but they remained indifferent to any type of dialogue or request. They immediately rejected my request, lying to me and telling me that it was up to Booking who would not reimburse them and obviously Booking immediately said that the choice was only up to the owners and that according to them they would certainly reimburse us because there was so much time left. Faced with the bitter truth, the owners lied again, saying that Booking would withhold the commission even in the event of cancellation, but once again Booking support stated that it was a lie. After several requests from me, the owners no longer even responded to my messages. We asked to charge us for the first night or to split the €432 expense since by not coming on site they would have saved a lot of consumption, electricity, water, heating, cleaning as well as linen. But without hesitation they wanted to keep our money even though they knew that 3 weeks later we wouldn't be coming, for me human indifference and materialism remains a shock! Never seen such indifference! Everyone I spoke to told me it was too mean, since they knew our situation and could apparently help us.
the photos were beautiful, but when the owners don't behave well, the stay is worth zero! Hospitality is the first thing!!!
