Perhaps could have a games room with a pool table. Fire pits in the lovely garden would also be great.

Great location, walking distance to CIvIc . Friendly Staff and Old World Charm. Room exceptionally Clean. Would definitely stay again.

It needs usb ports in power points for device charging, there was also an extremely large water hammer when hot taps were turned on

I found the shower floor slippery and felt unstable although putting a towel on the floor Resolved the problem.

Comfortable and convenient to parking as my friend has mobility issues

We enjoyed our stay at the Mercure and this hotel is our preferred accommodation in Canberra.

We had to be careful climbing the steep, winding steps to our bedroom upstairs as the carpet can be slippery. However there are ground level rooms available.

The Hotel is a short drive to the centre of Canberra - shopping centre, War Memorial, Parliament House, museums and art gallery are all easily accessible by car. We didn't use public transport. Plenty of secure parking at the back of the Hotel and hotel room easily accessible. Staff at reception and dining room were all genuinely friendly and helpful in assisting us with our requests. We enjoyed the varied buffet selection of food for breakfast, all prepared and presented to a high standard - staff did very well catering for the large number of guests on Anzac Day and prepared a take away breakfast for our early departure. Our room was spacious, clean and quiet and we appreciated having a mid sized fridge, microwave and some kitchen utensils for preparing a few meals ourselves. Heating is comfortable in the room on a cold evening. The Hotel garden is well looked after and we appreciated the beautiful view from our room. Built in 1927 we enjoyed how the Hotel is full of history and well maintained with interesting photos and books - I loved the creaky old timber floors and architecture.

The bathroom sink taps hot and cold couldn't be turned off properly unless with a lot of effort. Shower / internal drain in bathroom (next to toilet) flooded on last day there re had a shower and water came up drain onto bathroom floor (small floor of water/bubbles) enough to wet bathroom floor. Bed mattress very firm.

Helpful staff, good location, character of hotel, secure parking.

Decor! Property looking very tired! Needs a good paint and new carpets throughout. Didn't like that we had to pay $15 per day to park. We have stayed a couple of times before and this did not happen!

Breakfast nice; Restaurant food was lovely, as was the beer garden. Fantastic location, close to War Memorial and various shopping centres.

Seemed run down - the plumbing made groaning/whistling noises, as did the shower door hinge. You need earplugs if you aren’t a heavy sleeper. Bathroom door was hard to open and close. The TV didn’t work our first day. There was a fire alarm early one morning, presumably a false alarm but we never heard anything from staff.

Comfortable bed, AC, nice natural light. Staff were friendly. Plenty of parking

We chose this hotel knowing it had an on-site restaurant however the meals could have been of better standard considering the pricing. The hotel is isolated for travellers from any close shopping centre and alternate restaurants within walking area. Rest rooms for visitors not booked in as guests are only in the bar region. When this is closed it limits facilities for those needing a rest room, such as at the breakfast room or in our case when our room had plumbing issues.

Room was good and the staff very helpful and friendly. We had a plumbing issue and this was attended to and fixed within minutes of reporting. The courtyard and garden is a lovely resting spot.

Theres no free parking, They charge $15 for parking per day. The standard rooms don't have any Wifi. TV doesn't have any good channels. Without wifi, you cannot cast anything to the tv, nor you can attach chrome or Amazon firestick to the tv. If you want to watch any movie, you have to pay $34 separately, which is very weird. For any late checkout, you have to pay $20 extra, even for 30 mins. Never had these experiences anywhere else.

The room was average. The staff were friendly and room service was good. The buffet breakfast was good, too.

Wasn't sure about internet, I could have reception but didn't though, so partly my fault. The room was excellent, the furnishings did lack a touch of comfort. But all minor problems really.

The place has a slightly dated appearance that I thought was charming, but might not appeal to those looking for a more modern vibe.

Very large, well-appointed room. The complementary breakfast was nice - pretty standard buffet options, but it worked well for me! 24-hour room service (although after-hours options are limited). Staff were lovely and helpful.

Generally a bit tired and needs renovating. Small room (standard queen) with fridge and kettle etc inside the wardrobe because there was no space. Terrible view! Looked out onto all the air con vents which hummed all night. Could do with a sheer curtain, would at least hide the view.

Staff were accommodating and gave us a late check out on request (+1 hour). Secure parking ($15)
