Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe only thing, and with consideration that it was an eco-lodge, was that it got very hot in the upstairs room due to the hot weather. But the fan and extractor helped.
It was a beautiful, quiet spot amongst the bush—I loved the feeling of being in the treetops. The accommodation facilities were suitable, everything was clean, and there was a very welcoming feeling upon arrival. We enjoyed the evening walk to see the kangaroos.

AustraliaWould have preferred the bathroom located inside the lodge. Going to the toilet in the middle of the night means getting dressed and putting shoes on. The ladder to the main bedroom a bit steep for us oldies.
The location is brilliant in terms of serenity. The sound of complete silence is incredibly relaxing. The bush scene surrounding the property is fantastic.

AustraliaBathroom/Toilet is outdoor - this is the only design flaw maybe that I would say. One have to step out of the accommodation ( take a 3-4 steps out of the door) to go to Toilet and in the night there are lots of bugs outside (which one can expect in the bushes). Would have been great if the bathroom and toilet was designed inside the accommodation.
This is right in the middle of the nature. Step out and you will kangaroos and other wildlife. Nice view of southern grampians. Very well maintained accommodation and super friendly staff. Bedroom upstairs accessible by a wooden ladder was loved by kids. Accommodation is fully furnished, just need to take your food for cooking and there is a barbeque as well.

AustraliaHonestly everything was great! Maybe a couple of board games would be a nice addition? But it’s really got everything.
The lodge was really well designed, and very comfortable. It was close to everything we needed for a weekend away exploring, and was the perfect retreat to come back to at the end of the day.

AustraliaAquila Eco Lodges is such an amazing concept. Perfect place to zone out, distance yourself from the city life, and enjoy the serenity. Immersed into a national park, surrounded by the bush and wildlife, it felt surreal. It’s such a unique experience that we would recommend to everyone.

AustraliaBed a little hard. A topper would help that. Building a bit older, but in very good condition, as such not double glazed for heat / cold.
Quiet forest location. Private and peaceful. Good bush walks. Friendly staff with good local tips. Bakery (the old one) in Dunkeld fantastic. Lodge had good water pressure, good kitchen, fair air conditioning (might struggle when real hot) a warm wood heater.

SingaporeThere was a bit of a learning curve for us citydwellers who come a country that does not have winters - how to switch on the heating (you have to go downstairs to the boiler and flip a switch), how to manually light the oven (we still have no clue!), how to use the ventilation system (read the manual on the coffee table) and how to keep the fireplace alive (Paola very kindly explained everything to us but it still took a modicum of skill, which we finally attained towards the end of our stay). But if you're willing to learn, these negatives are hardly negatives at all.
Glorious stay in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by the bush and by literally hundreds of wallabies and kangaroos. Paola was an exceptional host, who explained everything in great detail (including a secret hike!). Finally, the pictures of the treehouses don't do them justice in the least - they look even better in person, and are a dream to stay in. I cannot imagine a better way to enjoy the Grampians than at this special place. Thank you for having us.

AustraliaThere is nothing to dislike. (Well perhaps the stairs with sore calf muscles after coming down from a very steep hike!)
Beautiful bush setting to feel like you are really getting away. We loved staying in the cosy treehouse. I could have nestled in for a week. Kitchen is fully equipped. Once there, you will want to stay in and cook. I would suggest bringing pre-ground beans if you would like to use the coffee machine (or you can use the hand grinder). Reception was intermittent, which we actually liked because we wanted to switch off.

AustraliaOur stay at the Aquila Eco Lodge was fantastic. The accommodation, landscape and hospitality were all perfect. Harry introduced us to his family of kangaroos and wallabies on arrival. An amazing experience to be that close to these beautiful animals. The accommodation was cosy, with a canara fireplace to keep you warm on those cold days and nights, with beautiful reclining chairs that were fantastic for reading a book and enjoy a glass of wine.

SingaporeWe were greeted with a dead big hairy spider in the bedroom and a number of dead/live worms in the house and toilet. However, we do understand such creepy crawlies are part and parcel of staying in a forest lodge. As we went in winter, it was really cold to get to the toilet which was infrastructurally not connected to the house. No WiFi and poor mobile connection but this offers a good reason to be totally cut off from the busy concrete world, returning back to the tranquil nature!
Nice cosy loft house. Kids were thrilled to see kangaroos around the house. Owners were very hospitable, starting the fire before we arrived to warm up the house and patiently explaining the facilities around. The bottle of complimentary wine on the table was another nice touch even though we do not drink. Highly recommended for a valuable experience to stay in a forest.
