The property is located adjacent to the main road and the traffic noise was a bit loud after 6.00am.

Ashdowns was a great place to stay, walking distance from Dover shops, cafes and RSL. Gary could not have been more attentive and helpful, he certainly deserves all the Tasmania Tourism Awards he has received.

Despite being near the road and a little concerned about noise, there was not an issue at all in the room I stayed in.

Convenient location to all nearby activities. The hearty breakfast was excellent, eaten while enjoying a great view. I enjoyed some very nice and interesting conversations with Gary, the host.

Gary went above and beyond for my wife and I. We travelled for weddings and he was so attentive and went out of his way to make sure we had brekkie before our long drive home. So grateful and well looked after. Highly recommend staying with Gary and Lorraine. Hopefully we’ll be there again.

Centrally located in Dover, the room was absolutely beautiful and well maintained. The hosts ensured that all the little but important things were taken care of, making for a truly delightful stay.

Nothing, everything was very good

The host was amazing. Breakfast plentiful and enjoyed the lovely home made jams and sauces. We traveled with motorcycles and he offered us a room with an undercover area for the bikes, which was a lovely gesture.

On arrival Gary was very welcoming and happy to answer any questions about Dover and its surrounds. Situated on the main road into town but noise was not noticeable at night. Bed and Breakfast set up was prestine, with the room we booked being large, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful and very much appreciated. Gary goes that extra mile by providing a hearty cooked breakfast as well as offering a selection of continental items. Grounds were lovely and parking off road. Exceptional A+ business.

Unfortunately the only thing would have been my hubby asked for fried eggs and he got poached, that was okay, I ate them and he was very full after the delicious breakfast oat, yoghurt, berry mix! Great host!

The hospitality was exceptional from start to finish. Love the area, the walk down to the back of the property with the cute cabin and the open fire which was ready to be lit, we enjoyed that! The rooms were clean, cosy, and comfortable too.

All of it was lovely, good location to do trips around the Houn Valley, clean room and great host who cooked a very tasty brekkie for us in a room with a view.! Tea and coffee available and local shops close by.

Gary was an exceptional host. He went above and beyond in helping my partner and I to adjust our preplanned itinerary to accommodate for poor weather conditions, arranged restaurant bookings for us due to our interstate sim cards not receiving signal service, and prepared satisfying breakfasts for us throughout our stay. Further, when my partner and I visited 'Masaaki's sushi' for lunch in Geeveston after our departure from Ashdowns of Dover (as was planned within our itinerary), the restaurant owner and sushi chef 'Masaaki' immediately recalled Gary after we explained that we had been staying in Dover - ultimately speaking volumes about Gary's knowledge, connections and well-formed suggestions. Overall, our holiday started off on a positive note thanks to Gary. We highly recommend Ashdowns of Dover.

the property was easy to find. Right on the main highway into Dover. Beautiful view from the house. Sheep were all happily eating. The rooms where done up with different places/ themes that the host Gary had been travelling or working in. great little place.🤓
