How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. The room is congested with little or no space to move around and if you carry 2 suitcases the room just had the facility to put 1 suitcase on a makeshift stand. The room cupboard was falling apart. Parking was too congested and even for a small car it was difficult to park.
The location was good right on the main road leading to CBD just 1.5 km from it. The room had cooking facilities that we loved. The room also had a futon to sit on. The apartments provided parking facilities for the car. The apartment had lifts to take luggage to the higher floors.

The shower head in the bathroom is not working so well and the water just splattered everywhere, making the bathroom really wet. It also gets really noisy at night probably because it's closer to the city centre and it is the weekend. You can hear cars and people shouting around
The location is superb, close to the town. And you get a parking spot in the hotel. The staff were friendly enough to let us check out later because we had work to do.

Toilet drain was a little faulty and the room could use better cleaning.
The ease of access to the city centre, just 10 minutes walk to everything. Brownie points for the lady at the reception, she was great at her job!

I think we really liked it. Someone who doesn't like taking lifts, or prefers a more "motel" experience, may not want this style, but the car park has such easy access.
It is so near the centre of Canberra and as we like to walk around a city and not drive so that we can enjoy a meal, it was ideal. The balcony gave us a good view over a park and the kitchen would make an extended stay very easy.

Mattress a little to soft. Pillows way too thin and soft. Parking spots very narrow.
Plenty of room, table and 2 chairs, lounge and a view. Staff mailed me a parcel of things I left behind. Very kind.

Only complaint was I couldn't work out how the shampoo dispensers in showers worked. Didn't really bother me as I used my own. Just a minor issue but thought I'd mention it
Excellent value for money. Room was well maintained, comfortable bed. Undercover carpark. Good size for me but would have been ok for a couple too. Good water pressure in shower

No paying cash availability. There should be this backup availability if needed. Not a blatant ‘no, sorry you will need to go elsewhere’ when your card isn’t working.

All parking spots were taken every night, I ended up parking quite far away from the hotel
The apartment was very clean, had good water pressure in the shower, lots of cupboard space and a comfy bed.

Not very clean and windows couldn't open so no fresh air
Great central but quiet location, opposite park with a weekly market and close to public transport. Lovely modern bathroom with everything you need in it.

Cleanliness and finishes were so so. There was a spider web inside abd the screen door to the balcony was off its slider. There was no bottle opener in the drawer, luckily I’d brought my own

The bed was old, loose spring underneath resulting in sore back. The pillows were ultra soft offering very little neck support- stiff neck the whole of the following day. The windows don't open - stuffy and difficult to breathe. I have been in another room with a balcony before and it was amazing. Lots of access to fresh air, beds newer/stronger springs and a comfy sofa to relax on. None of this was on offer this time around.
I liked the location - close to town centre restaurants, movies etc. Clean room.
