Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FinlandKitchen is one of the smallest hostel kitchens I have seen and the overflowing fridges are a nightmare- if you want to never see something, my advice is to put it in those fridges… also kitchen gets totally closed in the morning and night for an hour, which I totally respect and understand but it sure is an inconvenience you have to plan around. In bathrooms there was nothing to dry hands with. I had to wait behind the door for 10 minutes or so as I was checking in late. Nobody answered the phone and there was no doorbell. I got the top bunk and it’s a typical shaky squeaky one like in everywhere in Australia. But in this one there was no outlet near by so I had to leave my phone charging on the floor far away from me. Thankfully nobody took it!
Staff were friendly. The dining area on kitchen floor is amazing if you want to socialize with a city view! Free instant coffee and fresh milk was a bonus. There’s a supermarket, bottle shop and some restaurants close by and sooo many different hostels in a row!

ChileThe cleanliness of the kitchen, but I assume that as it's an average backpackers hostel it's very hard to see a clean kitchen at all.
Luca (maybe that was his name (?) the italian receptionist) was nice and welcoming. The great view at the common area oiutside the kitchen, the pool table.

GermanyI’m not a big fan of the keycard thing… And it was very hot in the room and there were only two power outlets for 8 people and they were mostly used by the fan’s to try and get some cool air in the room.
The kitchen area and the eating area was very nice. You can have a great view over Brisbane and to get to the main city, you don’t have to walk very far/long. The staff were very nice and in general I had a good time there! And you don’t have to worry about the Wifi because it is very fast, compared to other hostels!

United KingdomOur room had no natural light so was very very dark and small, the mattress are thin and uncomfortable.
Compared to other places it’s reasonably priced. It’s ok for a few nights, it’s clean enough, kitchen was small but clean, social area was nice.

United KingdomFor a hostel the doors are really loud, i was in a private room and was woken up many times by other people coming and going by the doors being closed! The bed was just fine. No duvet or covers just a sheet and the blanket was the size of a door mat, my partner slept without anything but to be honest he didn’t want anything as he was too warm, but that shouldn’t be the case😖 pillows were too hard for my personal taste, but for one night it’ll do I’d stay here again and I plan to in a few weeks for the lions game!
location was amazing! 10-15 min walk along the river to queen street, shops, restaurants! Great facilities in the kitchen and common areas were to die for! Games and pool table available and roof top smoking area and chill out area with sun loungers with view of the city❤️❤️ Bathrooms and showers were clean and tidy at all times of the day and night!

United Kingdom- We were quite perplexed when we were sat on the bed mid morning and had a cleaning staff member just walk in. We were a couple in a private room so we found it really intrusive and uncomfortable. It was lucky we were decent as we hadnt long come back from showering. maybe we just arent used to hostel life but we booked a private room for a reason and felt it was inappropriate to have a staff member just walk in unannounced, only to hoover a tiny portion of the floor as we had suitcases open and change a bin which had one tiny bit of plastic in there. Understand doing this for dorm rooms but it really caught us off guard and made us concerned about our valuables in the room too - Toilet roll had often run out. Spares kept in the toilet would be good so people aren’t stuck without - Aircon couldn’t be adjusted so I would wake up freezing cold every night (we were only given a sheet to sleep in) - by the final night I was wearing two hoodies to bed in order to not wake up super cold
Reception staff were super friendly Air con Great city views from top floors with some half decent relaxation space Pretty good location near to some other hostels. 20 minute walk from main shopping area, South Bank, & from Roma St train and coach stations. Private double room was fairly comfy and spaciois

Australiaroom was a bit small for the price we paid. the location wasn’t very convenient since there’s a fair distance from cbd and main shops. there were too many rules, and the pool table wasn’t working properly so we couldn’t finish our game. and we lost the coins.
beds were amazing. amenities alright. it was really humid and hot outside so we really appreciated the aircon in the room. that was great.

United KingdomWe booked 3 beds in a 3 bed dorm but got told we were in separate rooms and then got 'upgraded' to a 3 bed dorm which was had already booked. The kitchen was questionable and the room had no windows or AC and the mattresses felt years old.
The location was good and the privacy in the room was good. Cleanliness was okay but could be better.
