    Nothing really.

The hotel is an old charm with characters. Jacqui at the front desk was very helpful and friendly. Never hesitated to help and had a chat. My room was great with a nice surprise of having a bath (previously I was advised no bath for the type of room I've booked). Wish I had come prepared 😬. Bed was really comfy. I had the high tea on Sunday in the hotel which I thought was great quality. The venue was nicely set out. Service was great. That was money and an afternoon well spent.

Always worth visiting for its old-time presence. Improved staff to guest ratios would be ideal.

The hotel seemed under-staffed. Other than check-in, every interaction involved waiting and waiting for attendance. For example, shortly after checking in, I phoned reception to thank the hotel for a lovely room. The phone just rang out. The bar and dining room were unattended when I arrived at each of them. Having become aware, I actually timed the wait another diner had to endure before being admitted to a not-very-full room - nine minutes.

This is a wonderful old place that oozes charm and a sense of grand history. Check-in was great, parking easy to use and the room a glorious riot of old-timer panache! Staff were mostly friendly, although the comments below bear mention.

Forgot to mention on checkout that our tv wouldn't work, Not really an issue given how tired we were.

Electric heater was great to take the chill off the air. Bed was comfortable and bathroom was roomy. Stairs good for exercise!! Great to have secure parking for overnight also. All staff were friendly and helpful - breakfast was delicious.

The bedroom was too warm at night, although I know that Ballarat can get very cold. I would have liked a comfy lounge chair in the room.

I love the heritage building and how well it has been preserved. The location was a winner for dining and sightseeing. I really enjoyed the fact that I could spend plenty of time with relatives in the bar/lounge. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

    Everything was fine.

The location is excellent, central, close to the Ballarat Art Gallery, and a short walk from Ballarat train station. The staff were friendly and helpful. I had breakfast at the hotel restaurant and I definitely recommend it. The Wi-Fi was very good and reliable. All in all, I had a very comfortable stay.

The room was small, but nice. Because the room was small, the beds were small. However, they were certainly comfortable enough. There is lots of old-world charm. The staff were lovely and very accommodating.

    1. Make sure your reception staff speaks English properly. We arrived on Anzac Friday (for 3 nights stay) and was greeted by an Indian guy whose English is atrocious. Difficulty of gaining access to hotel car park. Thankfully he wasn't there for rest of our stay. 2. Entrance to hotel from hotel car park was underwhelming. Such a glamourous hotel should have a better entrance from the hotel's car park. Your guests are made to walk with their luggage through a gaming/pokies machine parlour full of feral people before reaching the hotel lobby. Bad first impression. 3. Ballarat in winter is chilly at night. The hotel has 3 different fireplaces in the lobby none of which has a real crackling fire going. No wonder the lobby has few guests congregating in the evening. You should have at least live gas fire going in one of those fireplaces.

Hotel location was perfect centrally located in Ballarat. Room was small but clean and newly renovated bathroom wonderful. Breakfast and dinner were good. Staff were friendly and efficient. Hotel interior opulent and historic.

There is limited parking on-site, but not unexpected for the centre of a city.

The hotel is in an excellent location and offers very good value for money. The room was well-appointed and stylish (as was of course the entire hotel). The room was nice and quiet. Not only is the location good for reaching everything in the city, but even Sovereign Hill was only a 30min walk.

I did arrange for late check out. But found myself locked out of the room when I returned after the standard check out time. This was quickly resolved but it should not have happened and having just run the Marathon the extra trip to and from the room was unwelcome. Minor issue
