Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaSince my previous visit, both the bathroom and the kitchen were not cleaned to the same standard.
The bed was very comfortable, sheets felt fresh and clean. Easily accessible by tram. The Village is a fun place to stay.

FranceThe management of the kitchen: it’s the fourth time I stay here. And always the same : no towels ( during Manu days !) lack of glasses, cutlery, no box for free food to Share, the fridge are dirty. With a swam of dirty water at the bottom. And always this awful stench of something rotten. Meanwhile the staff clean the kitchen every day!!! But like my housemaid did at home : Always the same. Same gestures. “ the outside “ only what they can reach with effort … a routine ! Pity ! It’s the biggest failure in the hostel
Amazing location. Nice helpful and smiling staff. Especially at the front desk. Everything is easy. We have many different spaces.

FranceWeirdly A terrible stench during 3-4 days in the kitchen, even though the kitchen ( and other places in the building ) are cleaned regularly. No box for free food to share (it’s important in such a hostel ) No kitchen paper and besides kitchen towels are not changed regularly.
Kitchen well equipped. Bathroom inside the room, reserved for the dormitory. Nice staff. Many different common places. Good WiFi.

FranceIt was not an issue for me but you can only get to the 3rd and 4th floor by the lifts (only 2 available). You can get down through the emergency exit stairs and will end up at the front street, but you cannot go back upstairs as any doors cant be reopened once closed.
I booked a bed in a 4-bed dormitory, with AC. The dormitory is large enough, so you do not feel packed at all.. The bed is a bunk bed, large enough, with a fair enough good mattress. For this dorm, you have access to an ensuite bathroom (shower, toilet, sink) All were clean. You also have access to a fully equipped kitchen, from 5am to 11pm. The common space on each floor is nice. The common space on the basement is pretty lively, in house bar on ground floor Paid pool tables (2aud). Poor WiFi in the dorms, better in the common space. Located in the city center. 200m from Victoria Market. 300m away from Woolworths supermarket. 1.6km away from Melbourne Southern Cross. The staff (Keira, Thai) is nice and friendly. I would definitely recommend this place for a short or a long stay.

FranceRoom 4 persons don’t have individual drawers as at the fourth floor. No isolation ( no curtains ) on the bed. In the kitchen : lack of towels for many days and no rolls of kitchen paper. Very important in such a backpackers hostel: no free food box !!! It’s an incomprehensible lack !! Every where in such hostels you have that. Just to share At first !!! and to avoid to spoil or throw away to the bin, the food we don’t use !! Salt. Pepper. Oil. Bread. Noodles rice. Sincerely I was shocked !!! It’s so normal with this kind of hostels mentality, especially with young people who don’t have a lot of money ! Every one buy and come with one’s bottle of oil !!! And use 10% !!!
Excellent location. Nice crew. Friendly and efficient. Well organized. Kitchen are good. But not at the top level.

United KingdomTHE STAFF! I was shocked at how rude and unhelpful some of the staff were. It was obvious that they were working for free accommodation because they had no interest in helpful customers. For example, my friend sprained her ankle and I asked if they had a first aid kit and I was rudely told the first aid kit is for staff only so they can’t do anything. I also asked for suggestions on parking in the area as there was no parking at the hostel and wondered if it was free on bank holidays but instead of being helpful I was sarcastically told that they don’t have rules like that in Australia. The staff honestly let this hostel down and it was only 2 young girls who we experienced this with, the rest were very friendly.
I really liked the hostel location and the number of kitchens within the hostel.

ArgentinaWIFI: I want to drop a point here. Most of the people staying there were backpackers looking for jobs, just arriving and looking for a room or apartment, to rent, looking for the next flight, buses, etc. You need to improve the wifi, please!! I had to go to Starbucks every time I wanted to spend a few hours using the internet.
I liked pretty much everything. The staff is superb, all from the people at reception to the bar, housekeeping, etc. The location couldn't be better and the shared spaces + kitchen are neat. Bedrooms are also very comfortable.

New Zealandtoo huge for my liking, fridges and storage in kitchen to small - was like tetris to find a spot and smelled like the fridges needed a huge clean and clear out, very noisy in the evenings till midnight at least as all rooms lead to common area and eating area, very dark throughout the hostel, no outdoor area, rooms look like prison cells
caters young backpackers with in-house bar, restaurant and gym, welcome drink and introduction with a dedicated host, lots of stuff to do

AustraliaReally frustrating to not have functional laundry the entire time I was there (multiple weeks) on *any* floor. The wifi was down more often than it was working, so I had to go to the library to get work done. When I had to move rooms to a six bed mixed dorm (327), it was awful: less than half the size of the female dorm, beds crammed in and blocking the exit and access to the bathroom with no space for anyone's luggage, no drawers or lockers, and NONE of the bunk beds had LADDERS. Bed A & E at least could be climbed into from the foot of the bed, even if it was a safety fall risk, but the person in bed C literally had no way to get up and down. This room really needs to be a 5 bed at most, given the lack of space, but a 4 bed is realistically all there's room for. And because of Formula 1, the hostel jacked their prices up, so I was paying $90+ a night for that insanity.
The first room I was in – the six bed female dorm (419) – was great. Beds were okay comfort, bathroom reasonably clean, I loved the dividers and the drawer lockers under the bed, and having a power point and light for each bed. Having a lift in the hostel is awesome!
