Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaBath map in the bath would have been handy with shower over bath.
Comfortable art deco house with several rooms available to rent. Simply furnished and clean rooms. Located about 20/ 30 minute walk from downtown Cairns along the waterfront. Small pool at back of house.

AustraliaBathroom, shower recess needs replacing. Not acceptable condition. Left over food in freezer. No tv reception, not told till we queried it.Limited cooking utensils. Obviously an older building undergoing repairs but felt that it was not up to par on similar priced places we've stayed at in Cairns before.
Location and internal space. Very pleasant view.

AustraliaThe current construction work is annoying but they do warn you about it. Unfortunately the hot water didn’t work either for me but I got upgraded to a veranda room. It was really cute and had a Great vibe and view but a lockable door to the balcony would be good. All the rooms have huge TVs that are really out of place and don’t actually have anything but static. To be honest that literally made it feel like Havana 😂. The new manager was a rude a-hole, but was redeemed by the new cleaner who was lovely and very helpful in solving problems. I just hope they will open the front doors when the renovations are done it’s pretty lame going in and out of the tiny back steps when there is such a nice old stairway and lobby that is just locked up, again, so much potential!
I love the old Havana feel of the place it has so much potential. The location on the esplanade is great.

Australiathey were doing renovations and the workers came at 6am and jackhammered underneath our room. literally they were reconstructing the ground floor. there was building stuff everywhere and it was hard to walk to our room safely the microwave was rusty the curtain fallen down. the pool area was dirty. but the worst was the noise snd we woke up early with headaches. I am sure it will look good when it’s finished but it was rude to charge us so much when we couldn’t rest. I feel we should have a refund the manager offered is a refund but only gave us $20 back. a bit strange.
it was close to the esplanade and easy to walk everywhere

Canadait was very dated, not as it appeared in the photographs. The photographs probably were of the rooms in the Floriana villa next door. Upon booking, they did mention that work was being done but the workers started around 7 am. There were no dish towels, hand towels or a soap dispenser in the bathroom. There was also an odour from the bathroom. I met other tourists staying there who passed the same comments.
it was spacious and clean. it also had a fan and air conditioning.

AustraliaOur family stayed in the Deluxe Double or Twin Room with Sea view with a cost of $131.75. This place didn’t meet our expectations of a 3-star hotel, worst than any motor inn or even a backpacker room. So, I wouldn’t recommend anyone here, you could easily find a better room with an extra $20-30 a night. The description said each room has a private en suite bathroom, but read along… 1) The only so-called pro: You get to see the sea from your room with a tiny window, but I would rather find another room and walk to the beach 2) Safety hazard: mould on the ceiling 3) No ventilation. Shower right next to your bed with an open top. 4) Don’t defecate (poop). Toilet with an open top and air con right above you. 5) Hygienic issue: You share your own toilet and kitchen basin. Note for you: Motor inns will still have a sink and basin separated 6) Hygienic issue 2: Bath mat is put together with your Bath towels and hand towels. 7) Stop by Kmart for your bedding and towel if you will arrive after dinner time. You get a thin lining to sleep for the summer night, no blanket. I got 2 bath towels and 2 hand towels for a group of 3. Final word, don’t trust the photo taken by the owner. He claimed he couldn’t take pictures of the room layout. So, I decided to help him. Enjoy the photos.

United KingdomVery hard to contact property manager. tried adding a member to the group.after multiple messages through booking.com had no response. Reply mentioned that messages sent through booking.com doesn’t reach them!! Never had that problem before with booking.com. No information provided about access on arrival & no one was around to hand over keys though we arrived at the mentioned time in the afternoon. The doors are self locking & managed to leave the room key inside the room second late evening of our stay. Contacted the provided contact phone number at 21.15, requesting access to the room & was told that we have to wait till 6.30 next morning for the cleaning maid to arrive to open the room. Alternative was that a locksmith will be sent to break the door lock but that we will have to pay for the expense!!!!!! decided to make alternative arrangements for night stay. Received a call just before 6AM next morning saying someone coming to open in 5 to 10 minutes but came after 30-40 minutes, just in time to check out, to catch the 8AM ferry to Fitzroy island. Worst experience I have had so far when booking through Booking.com. All other stays in Australia this visit were fine & smooth. The front sea facing family rooms are good & would give them 3 star but the back side swimming pool (which is closed for repairs) facing rooms are at best 2 star.

AustraliaThis stay I had room 7. It's security was poor with inadequate door and window locks, as was the security of the property in general .because guests left the security gate open a few times during my stay..I relocated to another hotel because of this. My last visit I was in Room 8 for one night and I asked to be moved to another room. Room 8 was not good value for money with VERY humble bathroom facilities. The description when I booked (early) did not match the property. Perhaps the proprietor should discuss this with Booking.com I was disappointed with what I got. The property looks very pretty (and it is) but the quality of the rooms vary.and it not a safe place because of the security issues.
Room 7 was a pretty room with pretty view Comfotable

AustraliaSecurity was poor. There was a locked entry gate to the upstairs rooms but it kept being left open. The casement windows and room door locks were inadequate. The property was not as advertised - pool out of action (long term) and no BBQ. Pay washng machine and dryer in another building not in the room. Our 'deluxe' room (room 4) had the toilet and shower virtually open to the bedroom (the shower did). Asked for a better room but had to pay more. It was a poorly insulated space and the one small aircon (above the toilet) didn't cut it. No dedicated kitchen space or sink despite being advertised as having a kitchenette. Room was clean but in poor state of maintenance. This was not value for money especially since I had to leave the room tidy and take out the garbage or else I would incur a cleaning fee. It is not a great place for a single female traveller, I won't be staying here again. I have cancelled my future bookings ( I am a FIFO worker).
