Atmosphere is weird, lots of people on their last stops here with tour companies or living there working so not really social at all. They had a tour desk but no one was manning it the day I checked in so went elsewhere. Think it's a bit ridiculous you had to make and strip your own bed considering the cost and the fact people check out early in the morning or check in late so they're turning on lights and making loads of noise having to do that. Had the top bunk and you could barely sit up in bed your heads that close to the ceiling, the beds squeaked a lot

The kitchen was really good, clean and well stocked, I liked the balcony and the cinema room next door with Netflix. Bathrooms were clean. Very good location on the esplanade

The pillow was very thin also had to make the beds ourselves. In the gym everything was out of order except the cycling machine.

The location was really nice and they had a big kitchen and fridge. Overall a comfortable and clean stay. Water refill and free fitness classes. Laundry for 4$.

Very small rooms even with a smaller number of beds. The shower needs to be more closed off and a towel provided with sheets would be helpful

In the common places you don't have air condition and and they give you the sheet for you to make your bed.

Kitchen didn't open until 6am and there was no coffee anywhere to be found so had to buy my own one

When I was there, I would say that it was most of a long term stay hostel than a very social one. Even in the kitchen, you almost have "single tables" that makes hard to bond with people

The rooms were quite small.

Amazing value, great shower and bathroom facilities. The AC in our room worked well and we really liked the kitchen/eating area. Also, the location can’t be beat! :)

Could’ve done with our room being cleaned as stayed a week and it wasn’t cleaned once so got a bit of sand on floor from day trips to island. Also had to pay $5 for towel which I don’t understand when you pay $$$ to stay there for the week

Location is great, right by the lido and many restaurants, close to marina for day tours. Also staying here came with a good offer for dinner & drink at Irish pub, which we used. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The shared facilities were clean, kitchen very good and having the air con in the room was great. We loved our room with the balcony

Air con in the rooms is great but non existent in the bathrooms and common areas, so it gets very hot.

The cleaning people never came into our dorm room in the week I stayed, and the room was a bit of a mess. AC didn't work well. None of the beds had privacy curtains, and you could hear the partying going on in the neighboring bars late into the night. I stayed in a 4 bed dorm (not all 4 bed dorm rooms are the same size, my friend was staying in one significantly larger than mine) and there was no where to put bags where people weren't tripping over it.

You can't beat the location, right where you want to be to enjoy all Cairns has to over. The common areas are clean and while its convenient for going out at night, it didn't feel like a party hostel. Good for socializing, but not too wild. I've heard its nicer than most of the other hostels in the area.

Bit pricey for cairns, laundry died one of my shirts yellow somehow (management lent me bleach and a bucket and I had it fixed after 36 hours of soaking). Walk in fridge on top floor should probably be cleaned more often, bit of a smell. Kitchen is cleaned at inconvenient times and not always at the posted times (i.e. the sign said 11 and we were told to get out by 10).

Clean room, had a nice private bathroom to ourselves. Tons of cooking stations in the shared kitchen. Really nice view from the deck on the top floor overlooking the ocean and esplanade. Lots of good meal deals and excursions from front desk. Easy to walk to everything and there's a grocery store 2 minutes away. Stayed in another hostel down the street that was nowhere near as nice.
