How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

A little bit dated in the rooms, bed wasn’t the best and aircon was loud but for the price it’s nothing to complain about. We would stay again for sure.
Rebecca at reception is as lovely as they come, she made us feel very welcome and I left reception with a huge smile on my face. Convenient parking, clean room, lots of space and a great location.

Parking a bit tight but no real issues

Lovely little hotel with clean and spacious rooms and on site parking. Perfect location just near the waterpark on the Strand and walking distance to Gregory St eateries. Well priced considering location

We managed the two flights of stairs up to our room without a problem but they would be awkward for elderly or less able guests with luggage to manage.
The main building where reception is, is a historical home. It's beautiful - tropical and shady. Lovely greeting from the receptionist. Our room was in a more modern building behind the home. It was cool, comfortable and clean in the heat wave, the pool providing a refreshing swim after a long drive to Townsville. Short walk down to the shady and breezy Strand where there are plenty of cafes to choose from.

I love the service and the location. Nicole is a very nice lady. just love her style and personality. the location is close to everything. there are a lot of parks and playgrounds for kids and gym equipment for aldults. 🙏

It would be good to upgrade the food table and chairs, but that's not an issue.
We stayed 3 nights with 3 kids and had a great time. Excellent location, close to the beach and waterpark (1 minute walk), as well as a good cafe and ice cream shop. The room is very nice, the kitchen is well equipped, and the beds and bathroom are also very good. Parking at the motel is free.

The matress was a bit too soft especially after flying from Perth W.A.
The location of the Lodge and the closeness of shops,restaurants The Strand and the Casino. Nice little spot to stay while enjoying all of the above.

Lack of awareness about room service - we were not aware that there would be room service (trash/ towel changes, etc)

We were a last minute booking after being cancelled by another property, on a busy weekend in Townsville, but even still the pricing was excessive, for what is essentially an Australian country motel with limited facilities and no functioning restaurant. If you are looking to stay at a time when the pricing is normal, then you could do a lot worse than Yongala. It won't blow your socks off, but it won't disappoint either with functional and comfortable rooms.
The location is fantastic, rooms clean and functional. The staff are warm and friendly making it an easy place to stay. It is perfect to be so close to the Strand but just off it and out of the hustle and bustle.

No light over bathroom mirror really hard to shave or apply makeup for the ladies.
Location just by The Strand was perfect. Walking distance to shopping mall and restaurants. Great to have kitchen area and larger rooms.
