The fridge was NOT turned on. ( even though we booked the cabin in advance) The cabin smelt-like, it had been closed for a long time. The cupboards stunk-like they had been closed for a long time. When doing my final check, I found a half eaten cookie under the bed - NOT ours !!!!!!

Beds and linens were very dirty. I had to clean the kitchen, plates and pot myself. Trees along car park was not trimmed and our new car got sratched. After all, my credit card was overcharged and it was refunded after claim.

The location was nice. Our gas stove was not working and Charlie opened another unit for us to use its stove.

I felt unsafe there due to the neighbours in another cabin. I thought we would be amongst other holiday goers but it seemed that there were permanents living there who were drinking, coming and going at all hours of the night and attempting to look into the windows of our cottage.

They charged me 50 dollars for the baby cot. Four of us were travelling. During booking, I had indicated that the fourth traveller would be an infant and I requested for the cot. The cottage did not inform me that there was an additional cost for the cot. When I checked the bank account, they had deducted 50 dollars more than the rate it showed during booking. When I asked the owner, they replied me that it was for the cot that I had requested. Furthermore, the cot was not in good condition. The mattress was so thin, less than 5cm in thickness and included soft foam. This is not in par with the national standards for the baby cot. In addition, when I checked the website later, they have mentioned that they supply baby cot for an additional 20 dollars but they charged 50 dollars.

Which breakfast? They did not provide any.

I needed access to the internet to do a job and chose not to stay at another location in more pleasant surroundings and cheaper than this location. This location may have an internet service but I could not access it during the night. The re Will not stay againsult was that I was unable to deliver on Friday what I wanted to and a weekend and had to finish the job on Friday night which meant a Monday delivery. This raises the question how I can be confident that providers using Booking.com can deliver what they promise. Also the manager I encountered the following morning needed Google Translate to cmmunicate

The bedrooms and living space were dated but acceptable. The bathroom was not acceptable. The roof was caving in, with significant water damage and mould in the roof and floor. We spent as little time in there as possible!

It was cheap. We knew it was poorly rated, and since we were just passing through, arriving late and leaving early, thought how bad could it be. Well, I wish we'd paid a bit more!

The unit smelt bad. It had cobwebs and was not cleaned properly. There were stains on the furniture and the carpet. I felt uncomfortable staying in such a badly kept place.

It was very dirty. Had to clean things before using. Kitchen cupboards had water sitting in them and smelt musty. Oven, grill was filthy so did not clean and did not use. Mould in the shower. Filters dirty & top of air conditioner very dusty. Maintenance on windows required as were filthy also. Management were not at the office.

The accommodation would of been good if it was clean. The area was good and felt safe in the area.

No towels!! I dried myself off with the tea towel in the kitchen. I re-read the booking email and couldn't find any notifications that I had to bring towels. There was also a strong unpleasant smell. Windows were all open when we arrived, to help reduce the smell however we had to close the windows at night as it was too cold to leave them open.

Was able to walk into town. Close to where I had to be for work at 6am the following morning. I was very grateful we could bring our dog with us and have her in the bungalow. This was the only reason I chose Kickback Cottages.

We were frustrated that the advertised 'pet friendly' price did not include $25/night/dog extra. This advice was in a confirming text but buried way down amongst other information. Had we known of the extra $100 cost at the time of booking Booking.com we would not have made the booking. You need to lift your game on this Booking.com as we have never struck this ‘extra’ charge when making ‘pet friendly’ bookings. I should add we advised 2 adults and 2 small dogs when searching for the accommodation. Also the grounds and gardens are overun and in need of maintenance.

Good location for a break on the way back to Melbourne from Merimbula.
