Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe shower fan was extremely noisy, sounded like Chewbacca which could lead to noise complaints. Also the shower head had calcification which reduced pressure and required picking at the rubber nubs to fix which took time, submerging the shower head in some CLR cleaner every now and again would remedy this. The toilet seat was loose and the remote for the heater in the bathroom not working. Staff did well to make the bed and change the towels over but didn't clean up the dirty dishes. These are just constructive criticism we wanted to add to improve future stays.
Staff we met at check in was absolutely lovely and it was unique to stay at a themed castle. Its a bit away from the city centre so it was very quiet and very close to the freeway for easy access to get on.

United KingdomNoise from adjoining rooms was quite loud especially if there were young children.
We arrived very late and the late arrival instructions were excellent and very easy to follow. The room was large and comfortable. It was also very atmospheric being inside the castle walls.

AustraliaThere was nowhere apart from the basin in the bathroom to wash dishes. Nothing to wash them or dry them with. I had to use our one and only hand towel. Wet one end dry the other. Very awkward. Also a price list of mini bar items would've been nice.
Loved the castle. The activities provided for kids were the best. Staff were mostly lovely. The atmosphere of the place was great. The kids were excited to be there. I will definitely be back.

AustraliaNo lighting on the entrance steps.
Kryal Castle was a great location for my overnight stay. The bed was super comfortable. The shower door does need some attention as it wouldn’t close properly and was very loud when opening it, I’m sure at 5.30 in the morning the guest in the other room wouldn’t have been very appreciative of this noise. It was lovely being able to wander around the facilities. My only suggestion is that some lights are required on the entrance steps as I had to leave early it was very dark and difficult to navigate my way down to my car. Overall I had a lovely stay.

AustraliaThe bathroom floors were washed with something that felt wet the whole time we were there. The halls getting to our room could have done with cleaning and same with the toilet in our room. There was also a mouse in our room - I’m assuming it was the only one but I was sitting in the dark waiting for my kids to fall asleep and it scurried across the floor right near me twice (Room 12 in case you care to look), so that really grossed me out and made me uncomfortable. I didn’t notice until late on 2nd night and saw no point to wake up kids etc - had meant to tell at reception in morning but it was closed and the people at the entrance for the day were quite busy.
The staff were all really lovely and happy to help anyway they could. The minibar was reasonable priced and staying in a castle is just really cool overall. The fact that the experience of exploring doesn’t cost extra is amazing.

2nd stay at Kryal Castle. Stayed in the Gatehouse Room this time, lots of space, accessible bathroom and back entry access and parking to the property. Comfy clean room and love the enchantment of staying in the Castle. Views of the mountain and the kids playground area, small chair & table at front, great lighting. Definitely stay again.

AustraliaThe walls were pretty thin. Got unlucky with a loud snorer in the room next door (which isn’t the fault of the venue, just bad luck).
This is a very niche property! It felt like an adventure to walk over the drawbridge to get inside! Would be a fun, novel place to stay at with kids, or if you love a bit of renaissance charm.
