Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandThe single worst experience I have ever had in a hostel, arrived at 6pm to find no one at reception nor a key in my box, had to basically wait in the freezing cold common room until about 5am the next day because i couldnt book any other accommodation for the night; saw no staff during this time. Called the night manager multiple times with no response. They have yet to respond to any of my e-mails, texts or phone calls and have not issued any refund. An absolute scam and joke of a hostel.
Didn't even manage to get to the room

United KingdomNo privacy curtains in dorms
Fantastic location, parking on site & on street (free & without limits on weekends), clean rooms, kitchen and common areas, staff left clear instructions how to access the hostel after hours. Definitely recommend.

United KingdomDidn't feel very inviting and some odd odours around the place. Kitchen felt more like a school kitchen and alarmed by amount of items in the bins that were not rubbish but just being thrown out. Kitchen not very clean on arrival with a huge pile of washing up and fridge not very clean inside. Beds quite narrow with plugs not easily accessible. No towels and none you could borrow.
staff member helpful with codes for access (albeit most of them weren't needed). Secure parking and easy reach for city centre.

United States- The bathrooms are all unisex, which is a bit awkward. There are multiple bathrooms, so it would be nice if one of them was females only? -the place is a bit dark and grungey, doesn't feel super clean or inviting, and could use a style overhaul -no "backpacking" atmosphere -some women travelers may be uncomfortable unexpectedly showing up somewhere where it's 98% men, so keep that in mind, although farm work is seasonal so the hostel probably isn't always like that
I arrived after reception hours, so there were no staff members but they provided instructions for late checkin and it was pretty easy to pick up the key. I didn't see any reception or staff in the morning either, you're pretty much on your own here. I was a bit surprised to find that the vast majority of people staying in the hostel - seemingly everyone except myself and my roommate - were all male farm workers coming from one of the pacific islands living there long term. It had the feeling of a sharehouse for the farm workers rather than a "Backpackers." Although I booked for a dorm room, I was somehow placed in a two-bed private room with one other female, so that was nice I suppose. The rooms are not particularly comfortable but are passable if you just need somewhere to sleep for one night. There is a nice little park and some good restaurants and other shops in walking distance.

AustraliaThe place was filthy, and everything smelt like urine. I couldn't stand using the bathroom and the kitchen was trashed. My room was freezing and didn't really include proper bedding.

GermanyIt‘s not a Hostel. There are about 40 men (workers?) that live there and we as two young women felt extremely uncomfortable. The beds also had no bedding and it hasn’t been cleaned in a long time. We could not spend the night there. Can not recommend at all!

AustraliaThey transform the hostel into a worker camp. There's like between 50 to 100 guy from the islands living there. They are everywhere. They make noise until 12pm slowed down at 11 but could still here some singing, talking at 12pm and it started again when they are going to work so between 5 and 6 am you can't sleep. They talk loud, sing etc. It is really smelly as there 50+ farm worker there. Smelly, noisy and nothing great. I would not recommend to anyone. The hostel should tell people that it is a worker camp for that part of the year.
Nothing.

United Statesin two days I stayed there, I haven't seen any stuff, besides cleaning guy. Keys are left on the door for arrivals. Office hours seems to be 4:30-5:30. Beds have bare minimum. Sheet on the bed, pillow and a very thin blanket and it was quite chilly. Kitchen was gross, it gets cleaned up once a day, but in between it is gross. All bathrooms are unisex, while I stayed there there was large group of men staying in the hostel, so 90 % of hostel were men and felt like all bathrooms were male, that was quite uncomfortable.
it is great location, rooms are nice a spacious,

IrelandI do not recommend this hostel to anyone, especially not to other solo female travellers. The hostel was fully booked out and occupied almost exclusively by male labourers, all from the same company. I was sharing a dorm with one other woman. I stayed at the hostel briefly in the afternoon and returned in the evening. I did not meet or see any hostel staff on the premises. Bathrooms were all unisex and being so outnumbered, I was too uncomfortable to use them. I DID NOT FEEL SAFE. I was so uneasy that I had to book into different accommodation last minute (at considerable cost). This was one of the most stressful, frightening experiences I’ve had as a solo traveller. Don’t stay here!

I do not even know how to comment... 1) booking.com says reception is open till 8pm (reason why i booked this hostel - i do not have australian number so cannot make calls). I let the reception know what time i arrive (6pm-so should be fine) and let them know i do not have data so cannot call. Anyway, he did not answer phone all day (call million times during the day from friend's phone), i arrived at the repception - different number on the wall to call. Also did not answer, called 5 times from someone else phone.. (he was informed time of arrival before and the fact i cannot call). Not proper contact... 2) the hostel looks like refugee or shelter - no backpacing vibe at all. For woman travelling alone - this was the worst experience I had. There was 60 workes who stayed there - so anyone else could not use kitchen or living room. Dirty, smelly, stink clothes & shoes everywhere. I got told the bathroom is for woman & man together -For woman travelling alone - definetely not comfortable experiece... I felt really bad. Friend who said she does not feel comfortable about the situation - got told 'i hope you finish quick as i am watching tennis'. 3) wifi - not working at all...i had to go to find free street wifi at 10.30 pm when was already dark as i needed to check in for my flight... 4) i informed the hostel i would like to pay with cash as i have bad exchange rate fees - they still charged..

Taiwanit’s in fact a working hostel, full with male residents, you can see roster up on the wall and their working clothes lay on the ground in the garden. kitchen is full of ppl too because there’re so many of them, I didn’t really have space to cook so I just went out to eat at restaurant. it can be scary when you first walk in to the hostel (especially when you’re a female) so if you are a female who travels solo, think twice before you book. the ppl there are friendly however the bathrooms there are unisex, only one private bathroom and it’s located the opposite side of my room was which means I had to walked down stairs and crossed the hall way then walked up stairs in order to get to other side of building (which is full of male) to take showers, I stayed there two nights, first night I couldn’t find the private bathroom so I just took a quick shower… cannot say it was a pleasant shower time. the wifi is poor too, my roommate have to walk to the closest shopping centre to use wifi there because the wifi in this hostel isn’t really working
I booked 6 female dorm room and they put me to 2 female room so I like the spacious room
