How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

There was nothing we would change.
We loved the location and the surrounding area. As usual the staff were excellent, our room was very clean with excellent views. Restaurants in the area were easily accessible serving great food. All very enjoyable

the hill the hotel was built on.
Location great. It is just around the corner from the Salamanca markets as well as some great restaurants. Has a fantastic bakery as well as access to grocery lines just a short walk. Staff were fantastic and helpful especially the gentleman on the front desk at reception. Most helpful and welcoming. Just a warning the hotel is on a hill so a little hard if you have a health condition.

Pillows - always a difficult one but if only having two, maybe make them not both squishy.
Excellent size rooms, plenty of space for 2 suitcases to sit open on luggage bench was really appreciated, warm floor in bathroom, comfy bed. Location at the top of Salamanca Place made for a great base for our stay.

Our room was not in the original building but still some of the facilities were a little tied and could do with upgrade. Water pressure in the shower was very low.
Great location. Salamanca markets, dockside and CBD. We walked everywhere. Tidy & spacious room.

nothing it was a really very nice place.
I loved it. It was so beautiful and comfortable beyond expectations. room was the best of our trip over 2 weeks. Very close to everything We hardly used the car. We think this is a game changer as it had everything we needed and more.

Shame there was no restaurant or food options on site for dinner - and no microwave to be able to heat takeaway food.

Friendly, efficient staff. Easy, early check in with the ability to park for free, even though the room was not ready. The hotel still values personal interaction & it exudes a comfortable "old fashion" vibe, not so available with current trends. Our room was quiet, the windows opened & the view overlooked the park close by & out to the the Derwent river. We watched the sunrise the next morning. It was possible to request single beds & also a room away from the elevator. The beds were very comfortable & although the room was not elaborate , it was spacious, had a couch along with a table & 2 chairs. There was a kettle & coffee machine with coffee pods The bathroom was also spacious with a roomy shower & good quality hair & body products. Although the Lena is an older hotel & we were located in the less salubrious building, it is perfect for an overnight or a few days stay. It is easy walking distance to Battery Point, Salamanca, the wharf area, the city & we walked to the State Theatre in North Hobart. There are numerous restaurant possibilities of varying menu styles & pricing, close by.

You could hear a sound of running water which we presume was the air-conditioning units. kept my hubby awake.

The car park was a hassle due to small spaces and turning room, and we had a small SUV! our Rent a car was damaged in the parking area, probably by a larger vehicle struggling to reverse out.
The location was just great, the city view was ok, and the room was pleasant, should we go back again I will take a good supply of sugar, four small sugars per day is parsimonious to say the least, I took my own coffee.
