Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaI feel like the room needed a deep clean - a thorough dust and vacuum around the edges and the window sills were dirty (black/mould on the aluminum frames). The bathroom shower is in an awkward position and if you are a larger person I think you would find it difficult to get in the shower. It is quite noisy. Our room was next to the lift so we could hear the lift every time it went up and down. The air conditioner is also VERY loud but does a good job at blocking out the lift and other patrons noises. It is very loud white noise though so if you are sensitive to noise I’d recommend taking ear plugs.
The hotel is in a great location, easy to access public transport and having a supermarket across the road was very convenient. The beds were comfortable and the kids loved the pool. They offer towels for the pool which is very handy as it is next to impossible to get anything dry in the room. It would be good if the room had a clothes horse for drying bathers, beach towels etc. Having car parking on site was one of the reasons I booked this hotel and we were able to park the whole time (although $30-$40 per day is expensive on top of the room charge, I understand this is probably in line with parking rates in Sydney). The car park is very small though so if you have a large vehicle I’m not sure you would be able to fit. We booked a harbour view room which was worth the extra money. The room was small so having the harbour view made it feel a bit more spacious.

Great location in Potts Point, easy stroll to cafes and bars, and a 10 minute walk to Kings Cross Station. The walk in to the city is pleasant and only takes about 30 minutes Our room was fitted out tastefully and provided plenty of power outlets, and a pretty decent kitchenette

United KingdomThe bathroom had a small change in height to the bedroom, which I stumbled over first time entering the bathroom Remembered it after that, but perhaps a white strip or something to highlight the 'step' would have been beneficial.
Really great view, had marvellous Syndey skyline with the Bridge and opera house. The studio room was great with kitchenette, with a microwave and hotplate for cooking. Bathroom had nice walk in shower, and enjoyed the overhead rain showerhead. There was a supermarket across the street to easily get food supplies to cook our own breakfast, and also enjoyed breakfast at cafe on same street. (The hotel did offer a simple breakfast room service). The public transport in Sydney was great with a bus stop just outside the hotel.

AustraliaOn the 3rd floor at Macleay Hotel, the district view is limited to apartments, making it less ideal for those seeking scenic vistas. However, friendly staff can help you access the rooftop, offering a great opportunity for beautiful Instagram photos with a more expansive view.
Our stay at the Macleay Hotel was enhanced by the exceptional service from the front desk staff, particularly Mon. Mon's invaluable hints and suggestions made exploring Sydney a joy, with a scenic 30-minute walk from the hotel to the iconic Sydney Opera House. The hotel's central location, near shops and a bus stand, provided convenience, and a delightful 30-minute stroll through the Botanical Garden led to the ferry terminal, offering not only practicality but also beautiful views of the Sydney Opera House from different angles. I highly recommend the Macleay Hotel for its prime location, welcoming atmosphere, and the thoughtful assistance provided by Mon.

AustraliaRoom/carpet smelled musty and surfaces were dusty. Bed mattress too soft. Hotel and room in general is a bit outdated - needs a face lift for a 4 star hotel. Hotel parking is a bit pricey.
Great city view. Good location. Staff friendly. Has pool and parking. Room has good amenities - Microwave, kettle, fridge, stove etc. Was able to secure early check-in easily and concierge upgraded our room to have a view, which was nice.

AustraliaThe underground parking was too low for our vehicle, so we had to find an alternative park and walk with our luggage back to the hotel. This is pretty unusual for modern parking facilities. Many people drive SUVs these days.
It was a very good location. Convenient to shops, restaurants and local attractions. It only cost $27 to upgrade to a room with a harbor view. The harbor view from the window was lovely. Especially at night. We mostly were able to walk to the local attractions we wanted to visit. When we got tired it was only a short taxi ride back to the hotel.
