Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThere was nothing we didn’t like about this property.
Everything about this property was exceptional. Our host Andre was amazing. We loved every moment of our stay. Waking up each morning to a wonderful breakfast and exceptional service/company was amazing. For those looking to feel like they are overseas without leaving the country this place is magical. We loved relaxing by the pool watching the Ulysses and Bird-wing butterflies flying around. The dragonfly landing on the fence. The sunbirds and other bird playing in the trees. The gardens here are beautiful and tropical. The view….oh that view….we could have looked at that view forever. This place captured our hearts and we truely didn’t want to come home. The room itself was gorgeous. The bed was lovely and comfortable. The outdoor shower in our room was a real treat. Anything we needed Andre was happy to help us with and are so grateful for being able to stay at this wonderful resort. Book your stay here and you won’t be disappointed.

The setting was magical, secluded up in the hills with a gorgeous view down into the valley. Felt like Shangri-la. Everything was so lush and green. Andre was so gracious and attentive. We felt very pampered.

AustraliaA bar would have been dangerously alluring.
A good experience or great vacation is made up of both exciting and relaxing activities, fabulous dining, beautiful scenery and comfortable surroundings. Having had the pleasure of staying at Mai Tai with consummate hosts Andre and Anthony we should add to the list the beautiful experience of being in the company of truly wonderful, interesting and generous people, which is a rare thing. We so enjoyed our morning chats, gorgeous dog company and amazing breakfasts. Our hosts were sensitive, kind, intelligent and funny it was really great to make a human connection which is too easily overlooked when booking a holiday. Honestly the warmth and kindness we were shown made us feel relaxed and comfortable. Anthony is fabulously attentive and truly cares about his guests. Andre is super warm and kind with some great stories we were lucky to meet them both. We do hope to stay with them again soon.

Mai Tai is definitely a little piece of paradise. The rooms are so peaceful, in Balinese style and the outlook is magnificent. It’s close to Port Douglas and the amazing Daintree. We loved it. The hosts looked after us with such consideration, we felt extremely pampered.

AustraliaNothing. I didn't want to leave!
Absolutely beautiful surrounds and the rooms are fitted out so nicely, very tranquil with each room having its own privacy from inherent guests. Love that it's adults only and couples only also. The hosts Andre and Anthony are so welcoming, friendly and really want you to have a great experience, offering their local knowledge and recommendations.

AustraliaNothing really.
Breakfast was great! They are not a hotel with a commercial kitchen so could not provide a hot breakfast. So it’s best not to bring that expectation with you.

AustraliaThere are only 4 rooms (and a separate villa) - 2 look out onto vegetation whilst the other 2 have, I believe, magnificent views down the valley. Try and get one with a view - I don't know if they cost more but they would probably be worth the extra. This is not a complaint, just a comment, our room was fine.
Quiet, unassuming and in a spectacular location.

Mai Tai resort is everything we hoped for. A peaceful retreat, with killer views and hospitable hosts. Anthony and Andre went out of their ways to make our stay special. We especially appreciated Andre’s helpful tips for our trips up to the Daintree. The room was spacious and well appointed - it lacked for nothing. We’ll definitely be back!

AustraliaMai Tai Resort is in a secluded and private location and is convenient enough to travel to Port Douglas or surrounds as we had our car. The breakfast every morning was fresh and filling, and Andre and Anthony were very attentive to make sure we were comfortable. The view at breakfast from the outdoor dining area looking over the mountain was relaxing and was a great way to start each day.

I would totally recommend this place if you're looking to switch off, but still be close to all the amenities. Delicious, light breakfast 👌
