How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Sadly, it took about an hour to check in for some unknown reason. We’d already booked so it should have been a five minute affair. Then the receptionist wanted to charge us about $200 more than we’d been quoted on booking. Luckily, I had my booking on my IPad available. However, this meant a further delay while he again went off to check with his supervisor. Meanwhile, guests checking in after us, sailed through. It was most off putting. None of the people on the desk we dealt with were particularly welcoming. The cleaning staff were very pleasant.
Having convenient and reasonably priced parking was very important. The area around the hotel is very lively with lots of eating and drinking venues.The breakfast was very good. Great range of food and plenty of it in a pleasant atmosphere. A comfortable bed in a roomy room and a pleasant and quiet outlook.

While the room was big, the bathroom was a bit too cramped. It was difficult to have 2 people in the bathroom at the same time. The breakfast was tasty but it got boring after a couple days, they only change one breakfast item each day.
The location is very convenient. Very close to haymarket and chinatown. Sydney is a very walkable city which makes the central location convenient. The hotel room was also a good size.

The hallway smelt really bad as though it was wet and/or mouldy and the towels in our bathroom were stained. Everything could probably use some maintenance overall. Breakfast was overpriced for what is offered although I guess pretty standard for Sydney hotels and there are plenty of close by, better food options if you don't want to pay for it.
The location was perfect, not only to be right in the heart if Sydney but easy access to Central train station made this an even better pre-flight stay than any of the Airport hotels. The room was way bigger than we imagined with plenty of space to both work, sprawl out our luggage and relax. And as weird as it was to walk right off the elevator directly into the gym, it was really great to have that access.

Maybe needed a microwave. And another mirror near the tv. Heaps of room for one. We travelled with our daughters and we all (4) couldn’t fit in the bathroom together. But really only trivial.
Where it was located, central to everything we needed. Clean, tidy and will definitely be going back.

Room service did not replenish the bathroom soap, even after calling them and requesting a refill. Beds not the most comfortable, kept rolling together. Lifts are old and clunky. 1 morning had a long wait for a lift.
We liked the large room, short walk to China town. Staff were very friendly.

The elevator needs to improves, you spend a lot of time waiting for and if you are staying on 12th floor you cant go by stairs
The location is so good, close to main train station, tram stations, walking distances to a lot of city highlights

Lots of Room Service trays with left over food in the corridor. Also the difficulty struggling up the entrance steps with heavy luggage as there was no other entry option

We were only disappointed with the lifts - the hotel had rented out 2 entire levels to a convention and with the amount of people coming and going from the convention it was an extremely long wait for the lifts.

Confusion when ownership change without prior knowledge.
I have always stayed at current location and with a fair price offering and services I would be happy to continue my selection as preferred Hotel during my business visits to Sydney. As the Hotel has changed brand I would like to be extended my regular stay (last ownership) in room selection and upgrades.

They don't give water here, I was surprised no water but they do have milk. This is my first hotel that is not offering a free water bottle. Also it's an old hotel they need to revamp some of the rooms.
