We were a bit concerned when we arrived as the address takes you to a derelict building, but the hostel itself was tucked just behind this. It is important to note that the hostel is home to many local farm workers who while just minding their own business do take away from the hostel feel. It does somewhat feel like you are intruding on their housing as they also use the shared kitchen and living room space. I find it strange that this is not mentioned anywhere, as we would’ve liked to have known. However, the hostel is great value for money and did provide everything we were looking for.

The hostel is just outside of mission beach town, (you would need to drive there) but is a stones through away from a beautiful beach. The host was lovely, he was very welcoming and informative about facilities (fantastic pool) and the local area. The room itself was everything you’d want for what you are paying, clean, cosy and nice bathroom.

Was a little confused at entrance, I took the lane by Scotty's restaurant which was up for sale but behind I found the accommodation, I went the wrong way!

Truthful reports on this property would be better. After hearing the whistling later in the night I understand why this is an Adults only property.

Paid for private kitchen. Was advised after 1 day that the kitchen outside our hut/room was for everyone. Just loved the smell of curries in my unit/room? Paid extra for a private kitchen and received nothing resembling such. Not even a private fridge big or little. This is at the lowest end of hostel and should not be allowed on the bookings site as accommodation stayed 2 days, paid for a week. DISGUSTING. private email to Bookings .com has been sent!

As of late check in i was unable to make a cuppa everything shut. I was unable to get a drink until next day. I would have liked to be able to have a cuppa. Maybe introduce tea & coffee & milk in rooms.

Everything about the room and place. The room and beddings were Stinky and smelly, like not washed and changed.

Nothing to like about the place. Very unwelcoming place - doesn't look like an Aussie holiday place The beddings look like they had bed bugs and very dirty. Wouldn't recommend this place.

The pictures online were not what the place looked like at all. There was permanent residents living there who made us feel extremely uncomfortable when we left our room. We felt unwelcome to use any of the facilities. The bedding was miss matched and looked like it had bed bugs. Black mold in the bathroom. And nowhere near any shops or restaurants. Although low price would not recommend at all!

One worker made us feel really uncomfortable there, would not recommend to any female travellers to go here, especially if you’re going solo Would also add that if you’re a backpacker, it’s probably not the best choice to come here as it’s a workers hostel so a lot of farmers in the property, who tend to keep to themselves meaning you’re very isolated and don’t get to meet that many people. Cooking facilities were not clean at all.

We let them know we were checking in at 7pm, when we arrived, no one was there to check us in. There was a phone number but it wouldn’t connect through We spoke to various people who also tried to phone and didn’t work. Luckily someone noticed there was an empty room and a key so we just slept in there. The guy on site the next morning said he was out for dinner.. it is advertised as a hostel but there are just workers living there. There are signs for bus shuttles but the owner said it was old. It was over a hour to walk to the beach and no public transport

Though close to the beach, the closest restaurant and/or shop is roughly 25mins walk. If you’d like to visit the main mission beach area then you can get a taxi for around $20 which is under 10 mins. Recommend a car here.

Scotty was so helpful and accommodating - he was able to help with dinner suggestions, transport and where the closest supermarket was and made sure we had everything we needed. Amenities were great and we had a kettle, toaster, fridge, microwave and cutlery/plates. The bedroom was very tidy and clean, as was the bathroom. Scottys was right by the beautiful beach. Great value for money!

Internet was a bit weak/patchy, wouldn’t have usually bothered me but it does have limited mobile reception at times which made it difficult to complete work. But hey, it was a good excuse to sit on the beach to complete work!
