In the Studio apartment I booked, the kitchenette had an induction stove top, which was great. But there was no range hood, no fan system. Cooking was made more difficult especially when there's no way to clear the steam so you can see what you are cooking. Plus there was no heat proof stirring utensil. That was annoying when cooking. I also didn't like the air con system as it wasn't helpful it reducing the humidity. The ceiling fan was more affective.

I booked a Studio apartment. It was comfortable, clean and well maintained. I had access to a balcony with a view of the pool. Provided was access to WIFI, towels, cutlery and crockery. Some basic utensils where provided eg a can opener and a grater. Pots and a pan were provided as well. Cooking basic meals was fine and the small fridge was all I needed to store what required refrigeration. The location of Southern Cross Atrium Apartments was probably the most important aspect. It's close to a major Shopping Centre where there are 2 supermarkets. It's a short walk to important sights such as the Cairns Aquarium or to the Night Market. It's close to restaurants and cafes near the esplanade or on the Esplanade.

There is 15-20 minute walk to the Promenade and the allive part of the town and this is a little bit long, expeccially when you coming back in the eveninig. But the appartments are attached to shooping mal and to the railway station, so this is another advantage.

The whole complex is a tropic paradise, with 3 swiming pools, loundary rooms and very spacious appartments. My appartment was on ground floor and had a terasse. It was huge and clean, fully functional. Appartment complex has pretty big parking and the doors are locked in the evening. Whole Cairns felt pretty safe, but this was additioanal safety factor. Heated pool was opened until 10 PM, so after whole day of adventures, a jump to the pool for my tired legs was a blessing.

Location is excellent. Easy walking distance to central Cairns and waterfront. Off-street secure parking. Quiet. Self-catering is an easy option. Good value for money.

Gym was lacking in a few bits like a weight bench. But good Cardio machines.

Good location, only 20mins walk to the esplanade shop area. Good swimming pool areas.

The guy who booked us in was having a bad day and was a tad grumpy which was a little off-putting! The area around the pools echoes a bit and some people think it's great to have a conversation at 3.00 am! Not a lot you can do about it, may not order a poolside room if we stay there again.

Lovely, tidy hotel in a quieter part of Cairns. Rooms were clean and well maintained. Lovely pools to cool off in and relax.

No lifts and old fashioned keys to the rooms which if lost incurred a hefted bill to change the lock and replace the keys.

Secure, safe accommodation in a good location close to the train and bus station, very nice pools, ideal for cooling off or just to relax in. Good laundry facilities and a well equipped kitchen area made the apartments a good choice for travellers and people on business in the area.

No one on front desk after 6. Strange for such a large property. Door locks could be updated.

A little far from the water, but close to large mall and pickup/drop-off for attractions. Good sized unit with nice pool and balcony.
