How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

No hairdryer in bathroom. Bathroom little small. Could not connect my laptop to the TV.
Clean room, private undercover parking, nice balcony. Digital entry and online check in. Restaurant with indoor and outdoor dinning and sports bar with small cafe available. Very good option and fair price. Stayed 1 night.

The staff, at one point was rude, and we felt that as the check in and check out was online, we did not have people to ask different questions like where to go and important places to visit.
It was very clean, the parking place was ok, and it had availability, excellent breakfast and coffee.

I regularly stay at the statesman and have previously indicated a dislike of certain rooms. I asked this be taken into account eith this booking but it wasn’t and I wound up in such a room

Check in point hard to find and procedure not so lean. Useless phone support: available 24/7 but absolutely not competent!!!

Nothing. All good.
We were close to the wedding we were attending. The bed & sofa bed were very comfortable. The staff, especially the lady who was at the bar on New Years Day who looked after us with cappuccinos deserves a raise. I would suggest though that you check the S bend in the shower in Room 36 as the water seemed to back up a bit when showering. But all in all, we enjoyed our stay. Thank you. Cheers!

The checkin was a bit confusing but that might be it was public holiday when we arrived so no one was around to assist aside from calling which as hard to understand. Only thing I would add is to let guest now that other people are around them not too my making loud voice at 2am. The room (Room40) next to yours was soo inconsiderate with his lady friends with out of this world laughing in the 2am ish and had to go tell them to keep it down as I was trying to sleep and he was sooo rude to me that I felt anxious/scared but calmed down eventually after calling my sister to complain to that night.
The location was great to the tourist site, Cole’s and other shops.

The online check in system is the worst I have ever experienced. The lag in the messaging and the lack of feedback is bad. Also my daughter's room had the door code reset in 24 hours so we are not sure what is going on with the electronic combination locks.
The people and the place were very friendly. The breakfast bar was great and the coffee was good.

There were NO staff to assist log in. Inadequate milk, only 4 little 10ml pots for 3 days. And I arrived with a walking stick and was given a room at the top of about 20 steps. There was no reception to whom I could appeal these deficiencies. Which spoiled my stay and has lowered my opinion of the hotel from the time when there was a reception desk and we clients were addressed by name not a number like a prisoner.
Room was clean and roomy. Location was perfect for me

Chose bigger room, good food at restaurant, staff there are very nice. Close to Coles for essentials, not far from hospital which is reason for trip. Quiet, short drive away from everything.

As mentioned above there was a problem with plumbing (toilet cistern didn't refill after flushing). But as also mentioned above this was resolved very promptly and courteously. I'm sure it was just "one of those things" and every other feature of the rooms was excellent.
The Statesman doesn't have a "front desk". All contact with staff is by email, text or phone. Nevertheless, when we had a problem with the toilet in the first room we were checked in to, staff answered the problem promptly and arranged for us to move into another room straight away. It couldn't have been any quicker or more satisfactory. Well done to everyone involved. The on site breakfast was also very good and available seven days.

Lighting could have been better.
Location was perfect for us, parking on-site behind gates, food at hotel was delicious, room comfortable, shower hot and lots of pressure.
