Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe shower door doesn't close fully so floor gets a bit wet.
A very comfortable stay with a room and ensuite in a shared unit. Great location to get to the bus into the city and walking distance to cafes etc. Nicole was really friendly and helpful, I appreciated the snacks and flexibility on my arrival time. Thank you.

AustraliaThe location of this residential property was not as convenient to access shops, as staying at a hotel or motel in a City area. However, there was a bus stop close by within a few minutes walking distance and two shopping centres which were accessible by taxi.
The landlady Nicole was a very gracious and friendly host and staying at her property exceeded my wife and my expectations. She kept her home very clean and was more than willing to provide us with more necessities if needed.

New ZealandA little trick to find initially - I arrived after dark and was expecting signage for guest house but there is only street number (59) and then you go down short driveway to unit 5.
Clean, neat and tidy room with its own toilet and shower in clean and tidy 3 star property. Hostess/owner friendly and helpful. In quiet suburban area. Help yourself to tea, coffee and biscuits, Wide screen TV in comfortable shared lounge. Free WiFi. Small desk with chair in room. Fan but no A/C.

AustraliaThe outside front light which is supposed to come on automatically wasn't always working, so you may need your own illumination to enter the code to get in the front door. The shower in the downstairs ensuite was kind of dribbling, (but still felt good to be under). The host assures me these things have been brought to the attention of the maintenance man, so hopefully will be fixed soon. Public transport in Brisbane, while improving, can be a little tricky, but I guess that can be said of many places. That's not the fault of this accommodation, but I thought people reading this would like to know. The Kedron Brook Bus Station is nearby and has good services into the city. However, the 330 bus is shown on the schedule as stopping there, but didn't when I was coming back from the city at night, and didn't stop after flying past until Chermside, so it's probably best to ask the driver if the bus you're about to catch stops where you want to go.
I'd never stayed in a guest house before, so that's the perspective I'm commenting on. It was very nice to be a guest in someone's home, instead of at a hotel, motel, caravan park or somewhere which is more impersonal. The host is nice and welcoming, but when I was there, mainly stayed in their upstairs living area, coming down to use the kitchen and socialise sometimes, so was welcoming but not overwhelming. It was kind of like being at home, or visiting a friend. The accomodation was very nice, and tastefully decorated. The room I was in had it's own ensuite bathroom. The air conditioner was good. The host tends to use their own TV upstairs, so the downstairs TV is more or less for the guests' use. The host's cat is shy initially, but warmed up to me after a day or two, (I can't guarantee the cat will warm up to you - I like animals and they usually like me).

AustraliaI believe in continuous improvement, thus suggest the following for Nicole to continue the good hosting services she provides so far. • Room: The wardrobe is spacious and has plenty of space to hang clothes. I would recommend adding clothes shelves for folding clothes. This will ease the staying of people who book for longer stay duration. Adding a mirror to the room would also add value. • The bath Adding a slippery mat to the bathtub to avoid any slipperiness. • House rules Adding the house rules to the description of the house on booking.com for the guest upfront such as using the kitchen for a maximum of 20 minutes at a time for guests, using the washing machine only for guests who booked for at least one week, and using the dryer will incur an extra 5 AUD. • General Since there is cat food downstairs overnight, it may make a strong smell in the house, which can be enhanced by installing a house automatic air freshener. Also, I would recommend having pest control for the house regularly as having a permanently open flyscreen door window for the cat to get in and out of the house may cause undesirable insects or small reptiles to get in.
• Location: Very close to the CBD (less than ~ 10Kms). • Transportation: the bus station "Kedron Brook" is a few minutes walk from the house. • Host: Amazing friendly, considerate, and caring host (Nicole) who accommodated my requests for late check-out and other service offerings such as tissues, rubbish bins, ..etc. She is willing to assist you and chat in your free time. She states in the same house in her private room, giving you total privacy. • Communication: Very responsive via the booking.com messaging system • Host 2: A beautiful cat (Princess Sofie) nice and friendly • Check-in process: the host provided an easy self-check-in passcode before arrival. • The guest room upstairs: Clean and tidy with a separate private toilet & private bathroom. There is clear instruction printed-out guidance for you on how to use the facilities and Wi-Fi • Hospitality: Nicole provides snacks in the guest room, tea, coffee, sugar, and biscuits in the shared kitchen downstairs. You will have your private bar fridge. • Parking: free parking in front of the house and plenty of on-street parking I would highly recommend this host for guests. Thank you, Nicole, for the comfortable, safe, and friendly stay experience I got.

AustraliaThe effectiveness of a guest house with shared facilities depends on the mix of guests involved.
