How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

There is nothing not to like about this property.
A quiet & comfortable location that is very clean and close to the town centre. Nenad and Adrian are truly wonderful hosts - that cater to all your needs. A wealth of information on where to eat and all that's great in and around Byron Bay. Delicious home cooked breakfast is delivered to your room each day. Thank you for a memorable stay. We plan to visit again.

Nothing at all!
Really good location. Rooms were nice and spacious and the bed was amazing. The whole property was nice and intimate, Ned goes above and beyond to ensure an enjoyable stay.

Loved our 2 night stay at the Beach Shack! Super cute boutique accomodation, in a quiet street, only a short walk into central Byron. Room was lovely, opening up to quiet gardens and delicious brekky served each day! Ned and Adrian were wonderful hosts, look forward to returning on our next stay in Byron 😊

Would be great to have the option to have breakfast earlier. Noise in the morning from the child who plays in the pool (just opposite) would be bothersome for those who did not rise early. Ideal for short stays as no dishwasher. Would be great if there was a mirror in the bedroom (as only one in the bathroom)
Breakfast was amazing. The distance to town is perfect. Bed and show very comfortable. Great service too.

It seemed a little pricey for what it was. I did not look at other places. This was recommended to me by a friend.
The breakfast was good. It was a 5 minute walk to the main town and a couple minute walk to the beach.

No complaint however as breakfast had to be on the outside deck, on hot mornings it would have been nice if there was a blind that could be lowered to keep the direct sun off the table & chairs.
It was great having our breakfast brought to our room in a known time frame (8.30-9.00). The table is on a very nice deck, with also a day bed for relaxing on. The apartment was very comfortable.

A couple of things which would have been a nice…Clean towels daily and toiletries, a small carton of milk in the fridge would have been an easy but much appreciated touch. For premium price paid it fell a little short but overall a great stay.

Parking is pretty tight but free so I won't complain too much.
The hosts were the absolute best. They delivered hot breakfast to our rooms for us each morning and had great recommendations in regard to restaurants etc....

Everything is spot on so there's nothing not to like!
Amazing in every way. Lovely and quiet location near the beach with an easy stroll into town. Breakfast served in the morning was gorgeous. The pool is perfect. Ned (host) is a legend. Can't fault it.

Could have done with some small drawers in the room as only hanging space. Also an option to have breakfast at alternative times, as we are early risers and don’t want to be waiting around breakfast or option for no breakfast and a lower rate.
Beautiful rooms, comfy beds and very nice bathroom.lovely little patio area. Location was great about 500m from centre and close the the beach both easy walking distance

The only negative was people walking along fence at edge of property (shortcut to beach/their property). We felt the need to have curtains drawn instead of enjoying the landscape. Some extra screening here would be useful.
Amazing breakfast, such a great start to the day. Ned is lovely, helpful, on hand for anything you need but also respectful of privacy. Great location to beach and town.

We spent 2 nights at The Beach Shack on our journey up the coast. We loved that it was so tranquil yet very accessible to the main dining/shopping hub of Byron Bay. Just a short walk meant no need to take the car for dining or swimming. Ned was a superb host, friendly, helpful and not intrusive. Breakfast was delivered each morning which we enjoyed on our balcony, it had a wonderful aspect and was very private. The room was spotless and well equipped. Would definitely stay again.

Beautifully appointed individual beach shacks - perfect location for both the beach and the heart of Byron Bay. Our hosts, Ned and Adrian, couldn’t do enough to make our stay a fabulous experience. They recommended places to visit and lovely restaurants.
