Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe pool is not heated, but once you’re in it’s quite nice. No stairs access to room, lifts only.
Perfect location. Market across the road. Esplanade & shops are a short walk away. Breakfast was a good buffet - both hot & cold options to choose from - but to fry eggs was an extra charge, scrambled was included as part of the buffet offering but we prefer fried. 24 hour reception which is great. Secure car parking for an extra charge available- however we parked on the street for free on the weekend, weekdays though I think the parking time limits differ. Live music in restaurant was also great.

United StatesThe hotel's location is a problem too - Right across the street from Gilligan's, a.k.a., party central for young travelers. As my luck would have it I stayed at the Benson on a weekend; so, the noise from Gilligan's (music & loud/rowdy drunkards) all night was a problem - I was on the 9th floor. To make things worse, it seems the hotel had the same or other young drunk bonehead a-holes on the same floor I was. I was woken up by their noise at Midnight, 2 AM, etc. because groups of them decided to have conversations in the hallway. I was not happy with the staff's lack of timely response to my request to fix or replace the table lamp in my room. The night attendant at the front desk on Saturday, April 6 '24, at 6:22 AM to whom I first reported this problem did not note my request - He seemed to ignore me because it looked like he was doing something on his computer. When I returned to my room in the evening of that date, the lamp was not fixed. They fixed it after that.
Very good location. Hotel is modern and decorated nicely. I especially liked the white marble walls / black and white colors. Breakfast buffet is nice, especially the croissants.

United KingdomI didn’t like the event held at the property that caused a lot of noise and vomit all over my balcony which took days to clean up and completely stopped us using the outside space, gave off party hostel vibes instead of quality hotel, I was moved to a beautiful room after 3 days which helped to rebuild our special trip
The location was perfect for me and central, initial impressions good.

AustraliaThe included breakfast was cold and average quality and parking at the hotel is way to expensive when you are already paying $250+ a night for a room.

IrelandBreakfast could have offered more options. There was no dairy free milk/yogurt options available. I had to ask for lactose free milk for some cereal but I'm not sure that's what I received as I was in some pain not long after breakfast. The coffee being served at breakfast was very weak.
The hotel interiors are beautiful. Centrally located. I arrived earlier than check in and was allowed to store my luggage until check in was available.

AustraliaThey were very accommodating and allowed us to check in early and we were able to still use the pool and facilities after we checked out which we really appreciated. The breakfast was good. I was disappointed when we stayed there a couple of weeks ago and the eggs were cold. We went down a bit earlier this time and everything was much better and this time we felt the breakfast was good value.

United KingdomShower pressure was a little low and hot breakfast was just okay but not great but these things didn't bother us too much.
Great value for money, enormous and well equipped room and friendly staff. Very good location for exploring Cairns and free overnight on-street parking meant we could avoid the pricy parking fees at the hotel.

AustraliaWhen I made the booking, I asked if there was parking onsite. I got a reply stating yes, there was and it was free of charge. When I checked in, the guy at the reception tried to charge me $25 for parking… I showed him the email I got and he refused to give me free parking.
