Historic iconic building with period features for a "Miss Fisher" experience in Katoomba

Our shower was over a spa bath so we didn't use it (older couple) I should have checked on booking. Room was very hot and I couldn't get my Android phone to read QR code to get guest information to adjust heating but partner could. Suggest hotel supply paper copy of basic information in rooms for older generation guests.

Building is very historic and decor is typical of late Victorian to early 1930's period. We had dinner and breakfast in the Grand Dining Room and loved every minute. Our room was spacious and comfortable. Using the 1904 era lift was an adventure and creaky floors added to the whole effect.

Overall, a great stay in high quality accommodation with a number of period features.

The only minor issue was the lift can be a bit temperamental (it is an old style lift with one door that needs to be manually opened and closed which can be difficult to get a handle on at first). This wasn't a significant issue for our group as we were all on the first floor, but guests on higher floors may find it a bit more troublesome to deal with.

The building was a period building with a number of modern features (for example the bathrooms in the rooms were very modern). The rooms were spacious, well heated and had good quality amenities (such as ample plugs, a kettle and fridge in the wardrobe). The included breakfast was more than sufficient with hot and cold options, and the staff were nice enough to reserve a table for our group of nine without us having to request it.

For the time we actually spent here, we enjoyed every minute staying at this hotel for our 2-day Grand Cliff Top Walk adventure, and we're already planning our next visit! Although Day 1 starts at Wentworth Falls, the hotel's close proximity to the train station made easy to get around. After a day of trekking, we couldn't wait to kick back at the hotel, but not before grabbing well-deserved schooners at the Old Bank Pub. Warm welcome at reception. Love the hertigage and creeky floors. Spacious room, the hot tub was a lifesaver for our tired muscles. Later that night, we indulged in a meal paired with local wine at the brasserie and then enjoyed the live music at the bar. Early night to begin Day 2 fresh. Hopped on the train Leura to finish at Scenic World. Memorable birthday getaway – we couldn't fault a single thing. Everything fell into place. Can't wait to do it all over again.

I did not like the lift, very old and rickerty. No doubt it is safe to use but I chose to walk the stairs.

Liked everything. This beautiful old hotel boasts its grandure as it would have been in the 1800's. Its like walking into a museum showing off its fabulous history. We had two big suitcases and several other items to take to our room, so Carl behind the reception did not hesitate in helping us with this task. Thank you so much. The complimentry continental breakfast was a bonus. Plenty to choose from and lots of seating. The staff throughout the hotel are friendly, helpful and very approachable. The underground security free parking was fabulous making our stay even more pleasant. It is located in the middel of town, such a great location. I would recommend this lovely hotel for a great interesting stay.

Nothing to dislike other than the weather, but that's not the hotel's fault.

Our two days in the Blue Mountains unfortunately fell victim to the Northeaster coming in - visibility was less than 100m, sometimes even the other side of the street seemed foggy and it rained cats and dogs. So we were very happy about this cozy hotel! It is historic and well-preserved (but of course with all modern amenities you need in the rooms). Fun to explore the different rooms, there's a nice bar and somewhere they have hidden away a brewery it seems. Oh, and the dining room... Great - had a good breakfast there (we had enjoyed dinner in the other brewery in town). The room was a bit smaller than expected, but for one night it was ok. It was quiet and we slept very well. There is a new parking garage next to the hotel - only disadvantage is, that you are exposed to the elements when you walk over there.

The room fridge was quite noisy, so we had to switch it off after a couple of hours

TV remote not functioning, Shower over spa bath not ideal if you have mobility issues

Room was bigger than you expect as is the bathroom. Bed very comfortable if not a bit softer than we are used to. Whole vibe of the place is fabulous like stepping into a time warp. Creaky floor boards, quaint lift, Leather furniture, open (gas) fires, fabulous snooker table. Secure onsite parking. Nice bar area. Right in the centre of town
