Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Left before breakfast from a centrally located, clean but older hotel accommodation. The staff were fantastic, the room at the top of long flights of stairs comfortable and quiet. Price was good and the pub downstairs was very good.

United KingdomThe glass walled bathroom in the middle of the room. No fridge or desk. No lift. No soundproofing from neighbouring room.
Central location was ok for a short stay. The room was clean and reasonable size. It’s really a city centre pub with rooms above.

AustraliaNo lift access (thankfully only 2 floors to navigate) which made moving luggage a little difficult. Tea and coffee facilities aren't located in rooms, but in a communal spot in the stairwell, likewise for ironing facilities. It works, but is awkward, especiallyif you're on the second floor and have to go down to the first floor to make a drink. A small fridge in the room would have been good. My least favourite aspect of the stay was the bathroom. Very, very small, built into the corner of the bedroom and elevated up on a kind of platform. If you had some mobility issues or were a little larger you'd have difficulty using the bathroom space.
Great location, close to Town Hall train station and light rail. Helpful staff. Very comfortable bed, and the pressure in shower was amazing. I thought noise from the pub downstairs would keep me awake at night, but surprisingly it didn't. Gorgeous art deco design in stairwell.

New ZealandIt definitely didn't have the modern and luxurious feel that I was hoping to get from the photos! Check in was at the bar of the Irish bar downstairs. Coffee supplies were communal so couldn't have a coffee in my room. Lots of dust.
Bed was comfy, water pressure was good, staff were friendly!

TaiwanThere are no elevators in the hotel since it's an old building, so carrying the luggage upstairs can be a bit of a headache. Also one of our room was super humid all the time due to the bathroom built inside the room.
The location is exceptional, right next to the bus, railway, and train station, as well as a lot of stores and restaurants. The housekeeping service was also great.

AustraliaThe last two times I've stayed here there's been an issue with bugs. I'm including this in the review so management are aware and can try to solve, as this is an issue that will prevent me from staying again. 1. This most recent stay I found two cockroaches in the room (@management, room 19). One small, one giant. These weren't the dumb, slow cockroaches I'm used to — I'm talking cheetah speed. I surprised the big one when turning on the light and it flew across the room and hid under the bed. Then... I had to sleep in that bed, knowing there was a huge, impossibly fast cockroach right below me that could crawl up the wall at any second next to my face. Let's just say I didn't get a good night's rest and left at 5am because it was so unnerving. 2. There are tank systems in some rooms for shower/toilet. I've noticed small flies on a couple occasions that I fear are related. Not as a big an issue as cockroaches but also not great.
I've stayed at the Criterion 5+ times while traveling for work and it has a lot going for it. Location is central (near my office), rooms are clean and quiet, the sheets are fresh, mattress super comfy — there's even a wireless charger embedded into the headboard of the bed. Staff are friendly and the attached pub has daily specials.
