Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandThe spa! Firstly, it is segregated by gender into a male spa and a female spa! So my girlfriend and I could not enjoy the spa together. I have never seen this anywhere in the world and it ruined our experience of the spa. At least the pool was not segregated. Secondly, the steam room has to be manually switched on by the guest for it to heat up - this takes 10 to 15 minutes! So if you only want to use the steam room or use it first, be prepared to wait... oh and it never fully heats up as there is a gap in the door leaving out heat constantly. You are not saving energy / the environment, you are spoiling your guest experience. Thirdly, it is impossible to use the hot tub/jacuzzi unless you are very mobile. The steps into it are actually very small indents in the bricks of the hot tub wall which are not big enough for even my size 7 UK feet to use comfortably, and which you actually cannot even see when standing over the tub wondering how on earth to get in (only when I was in the tub could I see the small indents in the wall). I ended up half-jumping in, which is quite dangerous as it's a deep tub, and if you are an someone who is not fit/mobile, pulling yourself out of the tub is a real challenge - that's unacceptable. To top it off, my favourite part of any spa (the sauna) in the male spa was broken the 3 days we stayed. When I asked, the staff had no idea when it would be fixed as they had to "send for a part". This is the Ritz Carlton - go get the part. And also get the part for the broken control in one of the showers... and install a machine to dry swimming clothes - people need to pack their swimming gear when checking out and need it dried. Overall: segregated, out of order, broken, unheated, ill equipped and with health & safety risks.
This is one of the most spectacular hotels I've stayed in for its views. The reception is on the 80th floor! And the views from our 66th floor room were wonderful. The staff were among the best I've had the pleasure to meet and of course being the Ritz Carlton, the style and comfort and class of the place made you feel very special. The bar food was excellent and the infinity pool a joy! The location is also incredible, being right in the heart of town.

AustraliaIf they're going to give you a pod machine, why can't any of these places, even the higher end, put a decent amount of UHT milk in the fridge to go with your coffee? 4 little thimbles between 2 people just doesn't cut it. The aircon thermostat seemed to struggle with stability in the middle of the night and the room grew a bit too warm. The overall room decor is very monotone and soulless, but that's par for the course these days.
Location is perfect for arriving and leaving Melbs - literally over the road from Southern Cross train station and the airport Skybus terminus. Walking distance to all the delights of town, or tram if you prefer. King room is luxurious with spectacular views, indulgent bathroom and comfy bed. Staying 5-star was a special treat splurge for us middle-class folk; we had a good laugh at the minibar prices, especially the Tasmanian rainwater in a wine bottle. The hotel was very accomodating with a late checkout (3pm!) and luggage storage for our evening flight.

New ZealandAs well as my booking saying I had a guarantied high floor room, I also did put in the request box for a high floor and corner room. Although I did get a corner room unfortunately I was on the lowest floor. Not a deal breaker and I know It is all up to availability upon check in but would have been extra special to get something a little higher.
The service and facilities were beyond amazing! Checking in was super easy. I dropped my bags off in the morning and by the evening when I check the room was all set up. The room was super clean and a great set up and not to mention the views were stunning. Very great quality for the price.

New ZealandA minor gripe. The bar staff very slow at times. We waited 40 minutes for a drink at one stage. Given it’s a small space and so not many guests that was surprising
The view is stunning. All the staff amazing and helpful. The room was exceedingly spacious and comfy.

AustraliaLoved everything
An absolute royalty when the time you stepped out of your car. A valet service for your private car. You are welcomed with a 180 degrees Melbourne view from 80th floor. The room is a total luxury, with a walk- in closet, and a 6 seater dining table. Amenities are full pamper for the guests. My number choice of hotel stay.
