How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Fedja and volunteers was always helpfull and you really feel balkans hospitality. Welcome ice tea at the beginning. Confortable beds with curtains, towel, room was very clean, very good wifi, small kitchen and I enjoy there. I booked tour with them, it was much more cheaper then book with someone else, with professional description of each vistit place. Best value for price! Recomended!!

The location was great close to the old town and.The staff is here to help you with evrything. The beds were comfortable with curtains, the bathroom clean, there was air conditioning in the rooms, the kitchen was nice. And the tour they offer is incredible and would highly recommend going. It is good value for money, the owner takes you on the tour and is so friendly and lets you choose your own pace, and you get to see so much of the surrounding areas.

Very good hostel. Stuff is friendly and helpful, hostel has also good location, near to old town. In rooms they have curtains on the beds so you have allways privacy. Near hostel is few pubs, some shops and the best and cheapest bakery in Mostar.

The owner was lovely upon arrival to check in, and helped me with my bags to my room explaining everything to me. I loved the privacy curtain and size of lockers! The bed was comfy and it was only a short one night stay for me but met everything I needed before going for my original booking elsewhere the next day. Would definitely go back here. The atmosphere seemed good and they were running tours each day. The person on check out offered to help me with laundry as well when I was seeking somewhere to go en route to the next place.

Washed my clothes with them (5€) but was still a lot of soap on it.
Well located. Close to the city Center but far from the bus station. Clean rooms Fedjar is a great host and amazing tour guide. Recommend the tour to the Kravice falls with him

Helpful staff (I arrived late due to delayed bus and owner slept in reception to let me in at 5am!) Short walk to the old town and bridge, about 20 minutes from bus and train stations. Liked the curtains around each bed.

If you are in Mostar, you must stay at Hostel Balkaneros. It is simply the best. I felt so welcomed here by the host and the other travellers. The rooms are comfortable and homely. Only a 3 min walk from the old bridge, you really can’t go wrong.

Don’t often write reviews but feel I must after such a wonderful stay. If you are looking for a homely place with a friendly relaxing atmosphere this is the place for you! From the get go Fedja and volunteers were extremely welcoming, even offering me food when my delayed bus arrived extremely late. It is small but intimate place where feel very close with the hosts and other guests in the common area and over food. Can’t forget about the incredible day tour by Fedja, one of the best tours I have ever been on!

Great experience at the hostel. The owner and volunteers were amazing. The hostel was regularly cleaned and you could tell the staff was committed to providing a positive experience for the guests.

Only complaint—could feel the springs through my mattress.
You can tell the owner cares about his guests. There is a warm vibe, and the location is great. I extended my stay multiple times.

The WiFi wasn't the best.
The dorms had comfortable beds with curtains and lockers what made it really cosy. The staff was really chill, friendly and cool. Also the location was perfect to explore the city by walking. We wanted to stay one more night and it was very easy to extend.

– If you‘re in Mostar, you should definitely stay in the Balkaneros Hostel. The people are the best!!! I had fantastic days in the Mostar region and ended up staying longer. The location of the hostel is perfect and everything is super clean. You absolutely have to do the hostel tour with Fedja to the Mostar region, it‘s so worth it (and I‘m usually not a big fan of tours). Thank you so much Fedja , you are great :)

Everything okay
The owner is really nice and funny, also gives tours and makes the breakfast himself. Also, the beds are provided with curtains for a bit more privacy. Many fun people in the hostel so really good for solo travelling as well!

Fedja and everybody working at the reception were always helpful and fun. The location is just amazing, one a few minutes away from Mostar bridge. The whole hostel atmosphere was great, it is not a party hostel, which I like, but we still managed to create a big group to out for dinner and drinks. The hostel itself it's just what you see in the pictures, you have the basic things and it's really clean. The view from my room was amazing.
