Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Close to the metro line #6 (station Bockstael) offering a number of Cafés and restaurants and close to Heizel (Atomimum). The guesthouse is well equipped, yet with bathroom outside the room.

ItalyAs said, the house is very cold (I'm personally sensitive to cold), but Ayse was very understanding about this. The walls are very thin and you can hear the other people moving around the house, in addition to the noise of the nearby airport. This is not a criticism to the guest house, but I suggest to other visitors to be really aware of what they eat in the neighborhood. We had a very bad experience in a kebab place nearby, always check the reviews and if you see people actually eating in the restaurant/fast food spot you would like to go to.
The owner Ayse is extremely nice. I told her that I was feeling cold and she immediately raised the temperature of the room. She also allowed us to check out two hours later. The room and the shared toilets are clean. The room is very cozy and the bed is comfortable. The location is not central, but it is easy to get to downtown with public transportation.

GreeceThe property is not in the centre, but is close to a metro stop (5 minutes' walk) and the Atomium (20 minutes' walk). They are separate rooms with shared bathrooms. It was not cheap for its quality, but all accommodation in Brussels was expensive. Communication with the owner was via messaging in French only. The general level of comfort was probably average.

The guest house is located close to a metro station so it was quite convenient. My room was spacious and had everything I needed and even more than that. I had a coffee table, a couch and a couple of chairs.

LatviaAlright, if you don't like planes passing your window in an early morning, maybe this is not a place for you - the airport is pretty close (I have no prob with that personally, but sensitivity levels may differ).
Stayed in the house 2nd time, and was happy to see the improvements based on previous reviews :) Great attitude from the owner, Ayse was very sweet and caring. For the very budget-friendly price, it was an excellent stay!

United KingdomThere was a random cat meowing in the house at one point in the night.
Very private and amazing value for money. A bit of a walk out of city centre, but i enjoyed that. Food/supermarkets and parks are all in short walking distances.

United KingdomWhenever there was noise, it seemed quite loud from room. Without earplugs, I could hear the front door from the top floor every time it was closed and creaking on the stairs, with thebroad outside the front being quite loud at times. With earplugs and the window closed, I had no issue.
The host communicated everything and made everything clear without me needing to ask. The location is well connected to the centre via public transport. The Atomium isn't too far away on foot. The house was generally very quiet and I never needed to wait for the shared bathroom. The bed was comfortable and the room was spacious. The price I paid relative to the other options was very reasonable.

CroatiaThe host sent me the instruction how to enter the house and room too late (few hours before I had to arrive). Unfortunately, I don't have internet in my mobile phone, so I couldn't know about that. I called him, but his English it's not so good. After I intended to enter the house several times following his instructions and couldn't do it, I make him several questions about that (e.g. is it this or that? what now?, etc.), but there was no answer. So I had to do by myself until I didn't figure it out how to do it. I came earlier in Brussels to have my own time and I wanted to be in the room. But there was no heating during the day. Then I contacted the host and he said the cable probably had been disconnected, and he would send his sons to fix that. Heating appeared. But next day again there was no heating. The maid came to clean the room and I send a message to the host, after that, heating appeared. The zone (location) is near the city centre, but in the street where is the nearest shop (a minute form the house) there are homeless people sleeping on the street, street sellers. There are some plates, glasses, forks, spoons, but it's not possible to wash them.
The room looks nice, it has double bed, sofa + table, another table, wardrobe. There are tissues, coffee, tea, The bathroom is clean. The location is 15-20 min. by tram from the city centre. Tram station is in front of the building. The nearest metro station is 5 min. walking.

NetherlandsThe only very small downside for me was mainly the bathroom being on a different floor, but nothing you can do about it (like this was a small "lowland country" style home and it is quite typical to be like this) and it was not a big issue at all. The bathroom itself is VERY clean and nice. Another one is the keys, if you lose them, the fine is quite absurd in my opinion. In that instance, It might be more beneficial for this guesthouse to use electronic code locks or something like that sort. However, again it is not a big issue as I did not and wouldn't lose the keys, and as long as you are safe with it, it doesn't affect you at all. Check-out was also hassle-free, you just lock the door and put the keys into their mailbox. (This is just me being nitpicky as overall it was good :D )
As I had school I had to take the last train from Amsterdam hence, I arrived at 10pm. That night, there was traffic so I arrived 30-40 min later and the owner's son was kind enough to wait for me. This was a pleasant start to the stay. Additionally, the bed was very comfortable and the room itself was very nice :). There was an oven and plates and also a sofa and a table. The location had some great food places around for fast food and kebabs. Also, the area had a supermarket nearby and was in front of a tram stop and few minutes walk (like 2-3 min) to the metro station. This made it super convenient. Using the tram it took about 20-30 minutes to the Grand-Place and a lot (like a lot) less to the atomium. There was also a coffee machine, I did not use it but it was nice it was there as an option.

United KingdomIt was at times a little noisy but nothing that couldn't be solved with headphones. Had no WiFi for a day for some reason. Most days the shower was lovely and hot but one day it was cold, and I took this shower at the same time as my others. Towels were a little scratchy. Picking up keys was a little confusing - there was talk of a secure box, but in the end I had to wait outside until someone came and let me in. But mostly the communication was very good
It's quite far out from the centre, but it's very easy to get in on the tram. Very close to Laeken park with lots of stuff to see there. Staff were friendly although I didn't see them much. Comfy bed, good size room.

AustraliaThe only complaint is that being on the top floor, the wifi signal wasn't strong enough to reach. It would be nice if they used a repeater.
The room was spacious, the bed very comfortable, and there were plenty of extra blankets, good for winter. It really felt the master bedroom in any house. The hot water in the shower was quick, and just generally the space was lovely. The check-in process was smooth and straight forward. While not close to the center, the access to multiple trams and the train makes travel really straightforward and simple.

LatviaI like hot showers, but this one was a bit too hot even for my taste, and you can't regulate it, at least didn't work for me. And it was cool to have teabags left in the room, but OMG, I would have loved a few packets of instant coffee!!! But altogether all was fine!
What I liked: it was super easy to check in/out, you just get your key from a mailbox and leave it there when checking out. Basically I felt like coming to my own home, no small talk at the reception or feeling monitored. The room was clean and nice, the bed comfy. And it is cool to sleep with Atomium in front of your window! ;-)
