Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIf you are elderly or in any way physically disabled, or you are travelling with large heavy suitcases then unfortunately this is not the apartment for you as there is a steep narrow internal staircase to get to the apartments.
Quality, clean apartment in an excellent location in the centre of Ghent adjacent to the main tourist area and shops and only a short walk to the nearest tram stop by the castle with Number 1 trams to the main railway station running regularly. Turn left out of the front door and within 10 seconds you are by the river with all the bars and then over the bridge to the main shopping area and all the beautiful historic buildings to visit. The perfect location for tourists. Turn right out of the front door and a short 3 minute walk to a well stocked small local supermaket with everything you could possibly need to prepare a tasty meal back at the apartment. The fresh bread was particularly good. Communication from Ingrid before arrival and during our stay was excellent and although our arrival time meant that she could not meet us, we had no problems following her clear instructions on how to get into the apartment.

United KingdomThere was a building work going on outside the flat which was very noisy - we were not informed of this in advance, I believe. The entrance to the bathroom shower was a little awkward as it was open - i.e. there was no door or curtain. The oven grill was awkward to use as it is placed too high up on the shelf.
The location was great. The size of the apartment was good for two people. We really liked the welcome drinks - Belgian beers in the fridge - offered to us on arrival. Also, the owner was very friendly. She also responded to our request promptly. We liked that there were plenty of towels in stock.

IrelandThe only thing that we didn't like about the apartment was that the light in the bathroom was automatic, so when you opened the bathroom door the light went on whether it be day or night, I'm of the sort who prefers to go to the bathroom in the middle o the night without the light to wake me up :-) but I wouldn't let this little thing put anyone off booking this apartment.
The apartment was spotlessly clean and there was even some Belgian beer, water and juice in the fridge as a welcome gift. All toiletries were supplied (from Rituals which was a treat) and when we exited the apartment onto the street we were right in the centre of everything yet it was still extremely quiet and peaceful. A perfect location to explore from.

United KingdomNo reflection on the property at all, but beware if you are driving that the apartment and associated public carpark is in the Gent Low Emission Zone which requires foreign visitors to register their vehicle in advance. Its free, but needs some organising online before you arrive - scanning and uploading documents and the like.
The location is incredible. So close to the touristic centre of Gent. Easily walkable everywhere. Massive and very comfortable bed. I am very tall and often struggle in hotels and apartments but had no problems at all. The linens and towels were great quality. Well appointed kitchen and the fit and finish of the whole apartment well executed and thought through. Its probably the best all-round city-break apartment we've ever stayed in.

United KingdomCould hear people upstairs moving about, but it is an old characterful building.
Ideal position, walking distance to many places of interest. Very cosy and warm with the gas fire. Host gave very useful restaurant recommendations, and the beer and coffee were much appreciated. Spotlessly clean and kitchen had good facilities, but you did have to be tall to use the microwave! Tasteful decor, and interesting local information.

BelgiumThe apartment is very centrally located, amidst the bars, restaurants and monuments of the old town. It is nicely decorated with eye for detail and all necessary items are present (water, beers, cooking utensils, hair dryer, etc). Although a space to store our luggage was not foreseen, the guest did her utmost best to find a solution and help us!
