Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandI wouldn’t recommend apartment if you are travelling with small children - we have a one year old and found that:- 1) Because of how old the building is, apartment is single glazed so you hear everything outside - not idea for trying to put a baby to sleep. 2) Blinds in bedroom don’t keep light out - again, far from ideal for above. 3) Apartment is 1st floor, up narrow flight of stairs so taking large buggy up and down isn’t practical - while it can be done, it’s inconvenient. 4) “sofa” in living area is actually an old single bed with some pillows - mattress slips constantly & isn’t too comfortable - could do with being replaced with an actual sofa.
Excellent location in the centre of Bruges - close to Market & Burg squares. facilities in apartment were good - two great sized bedrooms and very comfortable beds.

United KingdomThe property is on 2 floors and the stairs between are extremely narrow and steep which I, in my 70s, found a bit tricky. The kitchen sink and toilet were deeply stained with limescale which I purchased bleach to remove. Bathroom sink was not draining - had to take steps to clear it. One bedside lamp not working. Lampshades throughout are of a preposterous and inconvenient size. Feather-filled duvets, which some regard as a luxury, are not good in extreme heat, are not washable and bad news for asthmatics.
This property is really lovely and my son and I enjoyed our stay. If you want to be in the centre of Bruges, it's perfect - just off Djiver. Furnished in an interesting 'folksy' style and well equipped. Beds very comfortable.

United Kingdomcommunication was poor being online. check in details only supplied on day of checkin. not helpful when travelling with a young family. additional charge for a pre 5pm check in is unfair. property felt a bit unloved, appreciate the vintage look but some things felt just a bit old & in need of replacement. the lamp in the green bedroom didn’t work. windows were filthy. beds not very comfortable.
location was excellent, close to the canal & lots of lovely cafes & shops. kitchen was well equipped. toiletries were a nice touch.

United StatesThere is no good place with good light to put on one's makeup. Narrow steps up and down floors.
Location was perfect. All sights walkable. 2 bus lines across the street. Lots of room to relax after a long day of sightseeing.

Netherlands-Street noise - you’re smack dab in the middle of the city so you have to take that into account (bring earplugs) - worth it for the location - downstairs bathroom was missing a trash bin - bedrooms had dust balls, looked like they hadn’t vacuumed - Fridge broken and couldn’t open it. Fridge was unusable which was a shame when you had perishable things such as milk to refrigerate - lighting in the kitchen/living area was rather awful
You can’t beat the central location, this is what initially drew us to the property. The decor is very charming and the beds were extremely comfortable. We really enjoyed the Rituals products (shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, shower gel) that came with the property as well. The unit was spread throughout the 1st and 2nd floors which made it feel rather large.

ItalyThe interaction with the host is really impersonal. No way to have a direct conversation. The mark up for the check in before 17:00 is really not kind

IrelandHeating system broken For February in -1 to -3 C this was unacceptably cold and we ended up sitting under duvets in the living room to keep warm Followed all the thermostat instructions and couldn’t get radiators on.No answer on the phone when we called Left several written messages via the website Not fixed until second night:was told “there was an error on the new boiler”Had read other reviews mentioning heating issues so was hopeful it wouldn’t be an issue for our trip Unfortunately it was.I responded to an email from the property Management company sent afterwards requesting feedback from us about our stay to explain the issue and how it negatively impacted our trip.No response.I also separately emailed their head office. No response.
Excellent location a lot of major attractions within walking distance

United KingdomThe apartment was confined and stuffy and the bathroom was totally unventilated and smelly. It was extremely hot, with only 1 fan, so the upstairs was totally unusable. We even had a small number of bed bugs. They charged extra for linen(!) and for a check-in before 5, which is just ridiculous. When I told them about this, they just said 'thanks for the feedback'.
