How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

When we were at the hotel, the service available was limited, though available after inquiry. Also some appliances you might expect in a room (kettle, tea, coffee, etc) were not available - only at reception.
Great location, spacious room, comfortable bed. Reception was helpful with late check out, we could leave our luggage while waiting for our onward train.

My stay at the Hotel 36 was perfect! I checked in seamlessly at 2330, had a fantastic room with a great shower. Breakfast was delicious. The location is also excellent, central but quiet.

Wasn’t a major issue but no staff around on one of the days and Reception closed. Only seems to be staffed when people are checking in or out. Could be a problem if someone had an issue and no one is there to solve it.

Canvas laundry basket had stains on it, and floors were a little bit dirty
Big comfortable apartment near the city center. Rooms are equipped with everything that is needed for the comfortable stay. I want to highlight wery big comfortable bed and especially a stylish design in the hotel. Check in was very easy and personnel were very polite and welcoming

Convenient location near Serdika Metro station. I had a single room and it was larger than I thought it would be. I liked the exposed brickwork. Arrived late at night but self check in very easy.

Tiny balcony but ok if you want to smoke I guess. Shower leaked onto floor. Glass walled bathroom not for everyone.

Nothing. Glass wall into the bathroom is an unusual feature, but was fine.
Very good location to walk everywhere, handy for the metro too to get in from the airport. Secure entrance was reassuring. Room was compact, and relatively dark but quiet, warm and comfortable for our visit.

Fabulous stay The room was spacious and had a wonderful balcony overlooking the city. Short walk to the metro station and surrounded by eateries.

I stayed for a really short time but I will definitely visit again for longer, maybe in the following spring.
I am impressed by the interior, I did not expect it in Sofia. Small, cozy hotel with an excellent location. Everything you need is within walking distance.

The listing incorrectly states there is a restaurant which was the main reason I booked it as I was arriving late. Apparently this refers to the breakfast provision. Having to phone a number to check in wasn't that great when you are a single woman arriving late at night & have to find a pen to write the number down to phone it etc and you are being watched by a few men across the now deserted street. It wasn't clear where the key to my room was at all when I got in but luckily another guest showed me. The check in was therefore not a good experience. The bathroom was small compared to the size of the room and the courtyard view was just that & not worth paying extra for.
The room was clean and the bed waa comfortable. The price was very reasonable and it's in a central location.

I loved everything in this hotel! Easy check in, room was amazing and comfortable bed, enough pillows, so close to everything in city and lovely staff! Thank you for this amazing stay!

When we arrived we could not get into our room, as the electronic keys they had left for us did not work, and there is no receptionist at night. The emergency call number provided went through to a phone that was abandoned at the reception. The receptionist apologised the next day and gave us a gift, which was nice. I hope they have come up with a new nighttime check in process. I also didn’t love carpet in the bedroom.
The room was nicely decorated, the bathroom was very modern. I found the location to be very convenient. The receptionist was very kind.

Great location. Easy to find. Everything worked and looked stylish. I hardly saw a member of staff but never needed to as they provided all the information I needed and my stay ran like clockwork.

The room was large, clean, and extremely comfortable. The staff was extremely kind and helpful. Excellent location, in the center of the town, near to attractions and many food venues.
