Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BulgariaI lacked hot water in the bathroom in the evening. TV was not working. Because of the location in the old town it is almost impossible to get in and leave because of the barriers.
The place is exceptional. The view from the windows is amazing. Owners are friendly and helpful.

SwitzerlandIt was difficult to know how to park my car at the hotel garage, because the host did not send us any instructions to drive into the restricted gated area of the old town. If you get there by car, you have to ask a gatekeeper to open the gate, then drive narrow cobblestone streets to reach the hotel.
A nice and small hotel located in the historic old town of Plovdiv and the hotel is part of the heritage Ottoman time quarter. You can stroll around and see the unique architecture and visit the historic sites, museums and restaurants from the hotel.

NetherlandsAs mentioned the hotel is a bit outdated, but that is normal in Bulgaria. Don't expect much luxury.
The charming looking hotel is a bit outdated and has a beautiful terrace in front of the hotel. I travelled in November so there were few guests. Th hotel is located in the center of the old town, which is by car only accessible for people who live there and hotel guests. The roads in the old town are made of square rocks which makes it difficult to walk on for elderly people and impossible for a person with a disability. The hotel has a small parking garage and place there must be booked in advance. Very friendly service and a good breakfast.

IsraelBe aware that the street outside is paved with round stones, making walking (and driving) difficult. The manager, or whoever he was, spoke no English and a little French, just enough to give us confusing directions.
Picturesque hotel in a very picturesque area. The room was fine and the breakfast very ample.

Poland- Beds really like to make sounds almost whenever you'll move it'll make sound.
- Location (in the middle of Old Town). - Breakfasts were simple but tasty - I felt like visiting some old family, good atmosphere A bit of advice: It's hard with English there, but you can try with Russian, German or French if I remember correctly. Anyway, even with English you'll be able to get into deal.

TurkeyI choose the option that I need a parking space during my reservation. When we came to the hotel, the owner told that we should have booked a reservation for the parking. I mean what can I do more, I've already selected it during my room reservation, please pay attention to it. From the point of room, the air conditioner and the TV are out of service. Room temp is like 27 degree, but air conditioner's temp says it 18.5 degree, so it does't work. There is no TV signal in any source settings.
Location of the hotel is amazing. We walked everywehere of the city without any need for transportarion A nice and kind family runs the hotel.

BulgariaThe famous Alafrangite restaurant does not work which is a pity.
A very good hotel in the Old Town although a little crest fallen lately. They have a private garage but it's for 6 cars only, so you have to reserve in advance. If not, you can park in the next street for free, so that is not a problem. The breakfast is excellent as always.

CanadaHotel is very basic for the price you are paying, too complicated to park the car and to get out accommodating other guests schedule to exit or to come back to the hotel. Bathroom is outdated and quilts on the bed........ The lobby was a mess, a lot of magazines and other stuff everywhere.
Location is great, breakfast is fairly good. They have a garage, you have to make sure they have available spaces but it's definitely a plus.

BulgariaSouth west rooms are hit by sunlight at 6.00 am in early spring till late autumn. With a cat looking for partner at the same time and the absence of sunblind once would not be able to sleep till later hours except if not blind and deaf himself. I'd recommend good sunblinds for those rooms.
The garden is quiet, good people are hosting, they are calm and at the same time sharp. People are trying to keep noise down and the view is good too. Prices are decent. Good breakfast has been served as promised. Would recommend the hotel for family stay, if you want rooms with a terrace better call and point that out.

United KingdomAs the hotel is in a historic building in the old town there are lots of steps & stairs & no lift. It wasn’t a problem for us but just so you are aware.
A gem of a hotel. Small, family run quirky hotel in a fantastic location in the old town. Owner lovely & very helpful despite our very limited Bulgarian. Nice size room & good size bathroom with hot shower. Our friends came by car & the secure parking was a real bonus. So near to everything - museums/ Roman ruins / bars & restaurants

ItalyAll good
Gracious and typical building in the heart of the Old Town, really comfortable if you’re coming by car like us because they have a private parking lot. The host was really kind to us even if he didn’t speak English. He was able to speak French and German though. Breakfast was included in our formula and it was provided to us personally from the host because we were the only people in the structure. The room was fine and really well-heated.
