We went to have breakfast to be told that they are expecting a power cut at 9am for 3 hours and the choice for breakfast was limited. We were offered 2 French toast each with jam and feta cheese and one coffee each. ( These were very nice but not enough!)My wife decided to have another coffee which we had to pay for as only one coffee we found out is free with the breakfast. We finished our breakfast about 10 am and there was no power cut. We checked out over half hour later and still the power was on. We were disappointed that through no fault of ours as we had booked for breakfast, that we had no other offerings even cold continental breakfast which they wouldn't have to cook and in our minds they had the cheak to charge for the one extra coffee.

The swimming pool was not cleaned. Yeah, it was not so hot, but still... The sauna was not hot enough

Some details in the room needed attention, for example the sink had a leakage and we reported it. The quality of the WIFI could have been better.

The owner, the manager and the restaurant staff were very friendly and smiley. The food in the restaurant was very good. The view over the valley was very beautiful and it was great to be able to cool off in the litlle pool after a hot day. We visited the Magura Cave which was impressive.

The hotel appears to be a small family business, but customer satisfaction isn’t high on their list of priorities. The beds are comfortable but the rooms do not have coffee making facilities or a refrigerator and the TV is small with a limited number of Bulgarian channels. At no time during our stay was the room made up! The small bin provided in the bathroom was not adequate for a two night stay. There was plenty of choice on the menu but certain items were not translated into English correctly. For example, the grilled vegetables weren’t grilled. They consisted of mushrooms, onions and a few peppers over saturated in oil and fried in a pan. Cold and very unappetising!!! An extra charge was made for tomatoes and cucumber with an omelette. It would be desirable if the garnishes included with the main courses were listed. The traditional breakfast of tomatoes, cucumber, ham and cheese was basic but fresh. In over 50 years of travelling this is the first time I’ve been charged extra for a coffee top up! The Wellness centre was not open in the evenings! Opening, so we were told, was restricted to a couple of hours in the afternoon, when most guests would be out and about sightseeing! The main reason we chose this hotel was to visit the Magura Caves. We were denied entry because we were the only ones waiting!! Apparently, groups under four cannot be admitted! Even if we had entered, the main attraction, the prehistoric cave paintings are not accessible to the public!

The hotel is fine for a short break. Make sure you request a room with a mountain view, the scenery is stunning. The rooms are basic but adequate.
