Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe bed covers/ quilts in the cupboard had yellow stains on them, and so I could not use them. The bed did not have a proper base. It tipped when my husband sat on it. The hotel needs to provide good beds, not such cheap ones. Also the shower water did not drain away properly. It took a long time, and so the floor was flooded after we showered. The toilet flush noise was loud and continued for several minutes.
It's a good place to stay if you're visiting Arbanassi because rooms are cheaper here than in that village. The breakfast was fine.

NetherlandsOur colleagues told us it's a scruffy hotel, well lower than how's described. Poor breakfast with no choices, and even had to pay cash which is nowhere mentioned on Booking.com - so one of the guests had to withdraw money in the middle of the night in a place he did not know, because the hotel only accepted cash and nothing else. You cannot ask this to an international traveler, it's shameful and highly impractical.
Our colleagues told me that they could sort of can sleep ok.

RomaniaPayment with card is not accepted, only cash and only local currency. The room was worse than expected: torn curtains on the window, ridiculously small (but clean) bathroom. Avoid the staircase at all cost! We stayed on the 2nd floor, so using the stairs was easier than waiting for the elevator, but the staircase is smelly, the walls are dirty and the plaster is falling off at some parts.
Well, we left the reservation for the last moment and by the time everything else was fully booked. So we didn't have any other option. It was at a pretty decent price, but apart from that... I wouldn't come back to stay there.

RomaniaThe hotel looks like a repurposed hospital. The rooms ar small and the two single beds are placed longitudinally near the same wall. A small led tv, a bigger one would not fit in the room. The carpet on the floor was full of animal hairs and all kind of stuff. The cleaning staff had a vacuum cleaner but maybe they did not have electricity to use it, or maybe they don't know how to use it, I don't know. The linens were stained but looked washed. The walls were dirty. No mosquito net on the window. The bathroom is extremely small and has nothing but two small soaps. The shower is over the sink and toilet. The breakfast is the poorest breakfast ever, like in a hospital. They served camomille tea, and it reinforced the idea of a hospital. The waiters were dressed in gym suits - it would look fine if they had the same colors. The cleaning time is the same as breakfast time, so the only elevator for over 60 rooms and 5 floors is used mainly by the cleaning team, so you have to take the stairs - and see the creepy walls like in a horror movie, they look like they will fall any time. They ask for 30€, including breafast - if the price was 20€ without the breakfast, maybe, just maybe it would be a fair price. The superior luxury room is a little better and would worth 25€, but otherwise, they are too expensive compared to what you can find in Veliko Tarnovo for 30€.
This weekend there were no accomodations at all in Veliko Tarnovo, it was a 3 day long weekend, this is why we booked in a nearby town. No wonder this was the only hotel in a 30km radius with free rooms - the most expensive hotel relative to what they offer. But, if you have no other choice, you have a place to sleep. Don't expect anything good and you will not be disappointed.
