The pasta bar in the restaurant only did one option of sauce each evening so as a vegetarian most nights i could only get plain pasta as the sauces had meat in. We would have liked to be able to go up to the slopes a little earlier and stay a little later than the minibus times. We would have preferred to have an earlier breakfast and earlier minibus to try and beat the gondola queues and stay later skiing out of the resort when it was quieter (breakfast started at 07:30 and the first minibus was at 08:00, the last minibus was 17:00)

We stayed at the hotel on a half board basis and the food was very nice. There was a good variety of hot and cold food, and everything was fresh. In addition to the buffet there was a fresh pasta bar and mixed grill station. Restaurant staff were friendly and quick to clear empty plates and take drinks orders. The restaurant felt very safe, disposable masks and gloves were supplied by the hotel for the buffet. We used the spa most days and booked several massages. The indoor and outdoor pools were heated which was especially nice after a day of skiing! The staff in the spa were very friendly, especially Bobby who served us cocktails at the spa bar. My partner brought his own boots and helmet but hired skis and poles from the hotel and the gentlemen in the boot room was very helpful. Marine and Kosta drove the minibus to the gondola station each day and were very patient and helped us load and unload our skis.

Katarino is probably the best mountain resort in Bulgaria. You have everything you need and more: comfort, good food, attentive staff.

we rented a ‘villa’ but we got an apartment in an outside building, first floor. the apartment was very basic, I missed a little coziness, warm lights, a rug, a cushion. it’s rather sad inside these ‘villas’.

Everything was great. The staff is super friendly and the service you get is on point with the stars of the hotel. The entire place is very well structured and it gives you options to do different things. The food is one of the best things about this place, very tasty, a lot of different meals and you can also enjoy meals cooked in front of you without having to pay anything extra. Even though the outside pool is rather small, you will definitely enjoy it. I am very happy with our entire stay!

There is no connection from the villas to the spa or reataurant and in autumn/winter it could be a pretty cold walk.

The place gets quite crowded during the weekends and isn't as chill as during the week — we could hardly find a table to sit down during breakfast and dinner. The massages are OK for a hotel but don't compare to a specialist massage studio.

We went to the hotel during the week and we really enjoyed the calmness of the place (which would later change during the weekend). The breakfast and dinner were a-ma-zing! The buffet was stocked with anything you could imagine — the variety was exceptional. The SPA centre had everything, though it wasn't well organised in terms of how the spaces were arranged (the chill zone was actually a junction between facilities). The room was very clean and cosy with an amazing view of the mountain. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The tennis court was also a pleasure to use.

It’s too hot in the common area (restaurant at 30 degrees, just impossible to eat!) and in the rooms. With a baby, it’s not possible to sleep properly at this temperature.

It’s been the third time we come to the hotel! We really like the place. The view over the mountains is amazing. The rooms are big, the bed is huge and it’s very clean. The baby crib was in perfect condition as well. The swimming pool is warm (34degrees) so perfect for kids. Sauna and steam bath are perfectly clean as well. Breakfast and dinner were perfect with a lot of choices.
