Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Bulgaria1. I did not like the fact that it is a spa complex but I have to dry up my wet towels and bathrobes in my room after spa activities instead of leaving them and receive new from the hotel. 2. Also if I throw out a wet towel I have to buy a new one. 3. Another thing is that you should leave an information sheet of the whole complex in every room because a visitor does not know what are the activities in the complex or what are the hours of breakfast and dinner. 4. Another thing is that there were not enough hangers in the bathroom for all the towels and personal stuff.
Like the food, the spa and the wine trip.

BulgariaSPA, especially the pools, could be quite busy at the rush hours.
It was our first stay at Trakiya Residence Starosel we were left pleasantly surprised. What I liked the most was the spacious and clean room with a nice terrace, overlooking the hills. The idea of an HB-stay was also a good one, providing a variety of meals for breakfast and dinner. The SPA is also well-organized, facilities are well-maintained, and the available wine procedures are a must. If you like classical or sports massage, make sure you book an appointment with Iliya – an experienced chiropractor I can recommend. Overall, the place is fantastic for a family stay with kids, as we saw lots of parents with babies and bigger children. If you are a new couple looking for a private experience, you'd probably book something in the older part of the complex, avoiding the Residence, as it could be more crowded for you.

United KingdomNothing that we disliked in our stay.
The staff were very friendly, polite and nice. Everywhere was clean and well maintained. The room was cleaned daily and toiletries restocked. The food was a buffet and there was always plenty of everything, with a variety of things to choose from. SPA area was also perfect - out/inside pools, sauna, hot tub, etc, also clean and well maintained. There was a playground for the kids as well - which is a great place to leave your kid/s to play and someone to look after while having a bit of "me time". Everywhere was beautifully green, with lots of trees and flowers ... Cats, birds and peacocks wandering around freely which gives you a feeling of being close to nature. You could also see deers from one of the terraces. There are 3 different restaurants to choose from for lunch or if you do not have food included and each offers different dishes. I definitely recommend signing up for the wine and/or rakiya tasting tour, it is an amazing experience and we had a lot of fun and learned a lot from the tour guide. I would also recommend visiting the Tracian Cult Centre - less than 5 minutes drive up the hill. It was all a great experience.

United StatesNot all staff was friendly - e.g. the spa staff was somewhat rude; not all staff in the restaurant was friendly either. I didn't like that there was not enough entertainment for the kids - e.g. an animator, a small party once a week, or something like that (the playroom was only for very little kids and the arcade is fun only for that long). Additionally, a small convenience store on site would be great. There was no access to snacks or even water during the off meal times. Water should be available at no cost throughout the day and for dinner as well!
The location is amazing, the food was great as well. The rooms were modern and clean; amazing views!

BulgariaThere was nowhere to buy a big bottle of water. You could only get an expensive medium sized one at the restaraunt. So better buy a few beforehand and bring with.
The Spa is big enough that even though the residence was full, it still didn't feel overcrowded. The food was pretty tasty. The red wine was good as well.

United KingdomThe balcony couldn't be used as there were birds nesting there and lots of bird droppings on the floor. Guests in the restaurant were behaving like little children - coughing and sneezing everywhere without due consideration to other guests. Both my wife and daughter got COVID 4 days later.
Very spacious room, easy access to the pools, friendly and helpful staff. Large variety of food for breakfast & dinner.

United KingdomWe probably would not pay the premium for the spa 'red zone' again; which gave access to exclusive sun beds, salt pool & cave, a cold room (Snow room) - which was broken, and few other extra treats, all for 20 leva per day. The standard facilities are so good, the extra cost; for us at least, was not necessary.
Just less than a hours drive from Plovdiv, Starosel is an absolute touch of luxury, set amidst the Bulgarian countryside. The resort is large & built in the traditional style, with some really creative interior design features. Our room was large, clean and tidy, with a large balcony offering some lovely views over the vineyards to the south and mountains to the north. Food was excellent, with lots of choice at breakfast and dinner, with traditional Bulgarian options on offer alongside the standard choices. The spa facilities were busy, but the sheer number & variety of experiences on offer meant that it never felt as busy as it looked. Staff were all polite & professional, and we would recommend the wine tour; it's really informative and you finish the tour tasting wine in an underground storage cavern, quite the experience. Keep an eye out for the wildlife. The grounds are wandered by 20 peacocks; who are completely at home amongst the guests, and are more than happy to pose for photographs. There are also deer in the grounds, and swarms of swallows fill the sky in the morning and dusk periods.
