Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BrazilLack of some amenities like hand soap.
The hotel is REALLY old, but nothing that actually interfered in our experience, even though in a first glance it is a bit shocking when you see it. Location was great, really close to the Regalia Museum and in a 10-min walk to most of Bandar Seri Begawan's top attractions. Additionally, the room could really hold the temperature - it was scorching hot outside, but really nice inside, even with A/C off. Another huge plus was the restaurant, with fantastic and affordable food!

CambodiaEverything was okay. Like many budget hotels it would benefit from a refresh but then it wouldn't be a budget hotel if rooms were updated.
A budget hotel that is good for an overnight stay.

RussiaRooms are ancient, it is about furniture. You will even feel the smell of 18-19th centuries. Is it good or bad?! Your choice! The carpet on the floor is the worst thing in the room.
Nice location, good price for Brunei, cosy swimming pool. Breakfasts are kind of ok. Not so many people at the hotel.

ChinaThe food in the restaurant was not very good.
Terrace Hotel is in an excellent location, in walking distance of the town centre. The rooms are old-style but comfortable, and the hotel is good value for money. The pool is nice too.

United StatesUpon late night arrival, the room felt dark, dismal, depressing. Plus the next morning walk into town felt too far, considered switching, but hate moving hassle (stuck it out, glad I did, appreciated mucho after all). Hotel very old, not well-maintained. One day, I heard rain, looked outside - nada. Twas in my BATHROOM - serious leakage from room above. Staff offered another room next door, carpeting hazardous, chose to stay put. Staff cleaned my bathroom, didn’t happen again. Pool closed at 6 pm. In the hot humid evenings, Twould hace been lovely to be able to swim. Complained. Told management policy. Here to say BAD POLICY.
Staff most accommodating, especially the breakfast server. Pool and setting terrific. Location agreeable after all. The apricot-colored towels! Lovely lobby, dining room and patio outdoor table setting.

PolandThe only inconvenience is lack of power points. The only one to charge your mobile is behind the TV in the corner of the room, far from the bed.
Having read the bad reviews of the hotel, I was pleasantly surprised how good the hotel in fact is. It is old but everything works well. The staff is kind and helpful. It is very clean. The room is well furnished, including a kettle and fridge. The bed is comfortable. The bathroom has a good shower over a bath tub, the towels are nice and new and changed every day.

Brunei DarussalamWhen booking a hotel here, ensure to tell the staff beforehand to select a non-smoking room (for non-smoker). Smoking smell is apparent during night sleep and makes it difficult to concentrate on late night activity

Singapore- Room is very old and smells, as if I'm living in the past century. The old elevator shakes as if making milk shake. - Bathroom tap water cannot be shut down completely, a bit noisy. - Pool and gym are not free.
Reception staff is very friendly and helpful. 10 minutes walk to city center shopping mall and the mosque.

United KingdomLots of breakfast items not available (butter, beans, fruit, juice). Decor, especially in communal areas old and outdated. it’s like walking back into the 60’s. Lack of power sockets in the bedroom (the only ones were behind the TV). There is a old musty smell in the corridors. Carpets are full of stains and need a good clean. I ordered continental breakfast (having had the American eggs, beans, sausage, potatoes and toast the day prior) and was just served toast which was very disappointing. Reception staff didn’t make any effort to greet you or say hello as you walked by. They seemed too busy bored watching TV on their phones.
Fantastic location. The pool was lovely, although there was no recliners. Room had a bath and shower which was nice. Free bottles of water every day. Room was quite spacious and overall clean. The housekeeper was very friendly and made our room lovely every day.

Saudi ArabiaNo sunbeds at the pool, the hotel had a musky smell in the corridors, the position of the bed was awkward, you had to climb on the bed to get to the other side. Neglected furnishings, the windows and walls could do with a lick of paint. It was an old hotel.
Location was OK, 15 mins walk to the city centre. Staff were really nice and polite. It was a holiday and hard to get taxis but they tried a few companies for us. The restaurant had amazing food. The pool was nice and clean.
