Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ArgentinaNever ending stairs, no elevator. My room was like on the 2nd/3rd floor, and the kitchen is on the 3rd/4th next to the rooftop, which closes at 22 pm! So I could never cook dinner or save anything there that I would like to have later, and the best zone to be on the hot nights at the hostel could not be used. My room had 4 lockers, and there were 6 beds, so it was messy and uncomfortable to move whenever all of us were there cause it was a small room.
Clean, close to the beach and downtown copacabana

United KingdomThe dorm room was a bit of a tight squeeze - we could barely fit all our luggage. The room had some mould which gave it a pretty bad smell.
The location is great, so close to Copacabana beach but still on a quiet street. The staff were really nice and helpful, and the bar area was fun at night.

ChileThere's not much I can say, perhaps the beds in the private rooms are a bit small, but nothing too bad
The hostel has an excellent location, just 10 minutes from the beach and close to many restaurants, bars, and activities in Copacabana. It also has a bar and is a great place to socialize. The neighborhood is safe. The hostel is located on an incline, but it's not a problem at all.

BrazilThere isn't any elevator. The beds aren't that comfortable and it seems like they can break at any time. It gets very noisy everytime someone has to climb the bunk bed. I had to ask for a pillow since there wasn't any when I got there. There is no towel on the floor when you leave the shower, and the place is always full of water. The toilets should be cleaned more often. The breakfast is a little expensive for what is offered.
The location is pretty good, close to eveything and specially very close to the metro station, but not as close to the point it gets too noisy. Actually, the hostel is on a quiet street and you can just hear the forest and birds during the night (which is a rare thing in Copacabana). The staff was nice. The are enough toilets and showers for everybody. There is a good common space to interact with others.

GermanyThe mattresses are definitely bad and uncomfortable, the air conditioning is very loud (luckily you can turn it off) a bit dirty at times, otherwise ok for the price. I still wouldn't recommend it.

NetherlandsMaybe some more attention could be paid to hygiene. The toilets were continuously clogged and the shower spray was very minimal. Many employees did not speak a word of English. You may expected this since you work in hospitality and deal with travelers from all over the world. Breakfast is very small for the amount you have to pay for it.

United KingdomFridges were quite messy/dirty & not kept in good order. Check out is 11am & check in is 2pm, yet I had 4 girls come into my room the morning of check out at 9am being loud whilst waking 2 other guys in the room. I felt as if I needed to rush out so that one of the girls could have my bed/storage which is not what you want straight away in the morning?! A member of staff told me that the girls paid for 'early check in' which I think is absurd as how does that then suit the others in the room that are trying to sleep/don't have to check out yet?
Rooms were nicely ventilated & spacious

SpainSome bathrooms had a really strong smell of pee even when it was clean. I believe it could come from the bins they have to put toilet paper because on the bathroom downstairs next to reception and upstairs the smell was really strong. The 4 bed room I stayed was really small also. There was not enough space for 4 people if they were not lying on the bed.
The terrace with the rain forest view and the safe location as they have private security around the block.

GreeceI was trying to book the same room with my friend a week before our trip but in the site it was stated that there is only one bed available in the female dorm. However I was the only one staying in this dorm, all three nights, with 4 beds available. It is a hostel so of course there is no expectation for services like changing bedsheets etc but at least there could be more frequent cleaning in the bathrooms and in the dorms. Bathrooms were most of the times messy and there was food left in my dorm from previous tenants that was left there for days and in general the dorm was messy.
Great location.

AustraliaIt was filthy, dilapidated and mis-sold. It was a cheap stay, so I wasn’t expecting the world, what I wasn’t expecting was a degraded hellhole, with rusty bunks, blocked sinks and toilets and a staff that were indifferent at best
