Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesGreat location on the main street (Rua Pedro Longo), excellent breakfast, good vibe and friendly staff. Was easy to meet people as a solo traveler. I enjoyed the lounge downstairs outside the reception and upstairs outside the bar that looked out onto the main street. Everything seemed to work well. I stayed in a private room with private bathroom that was very comfortable.

FranceWiFi was very patchy, but it may not be the hostel's fault (it seems the whole city had connection problems when I visited).
I spent two weeks there. Perfect location, lots of common areas to chill, socialize or work from. Fantastic breakfast. Large lockers. Great kitchen with everything you need. More than anything I really enjoyed spending time with the staff, from Nico (the most humble and kind manager you'll ever meet), to lovely Andrea, or Grazziano (always friendly and fun to be around and talk to), and others. A big OBRIGADO to all of you guys, I miss you all! Fantastic hostel, although I suspect it must be very loud and crazy in the high season, so be careful when you visit if you like it quiet!

United StatesThe air conditioner unit was not clean and it got all of the people in my room sick. We told staff and they ignored it. The bathroom was extremely dirty. The staff manager was extremely Rude and unhelpful I wouldn’t stay here again.
The breakfast was good and the volunteers were friendly. The staff was very rude though.

BrazilMy main concerns were with the beds and the room layout. In my opinion, there were too many beds crammed into such a small space, and the absence of curtains was a drawback. The room I stayed in on the first level was consistently humid with inadequate ventilation, making it feel quite dark and stuffy due to the absence of windows.
The breakfast at this hostel was amazing, and I especially appreciated the super-friendly staff, convenient location, and the cozy chill-out area next to the reception.

ItalyThe sockets don’t work!! which means you have to charge your phone by power bank or try your luck with the ones in the public areas
The location on the main road is very convenient because you’re surrounded by everything but that also means there will be noise pretty much the whole night

SpainThey dont have AC in the rooms, it’s just a kind of a fan. The door and Windows dont fit good so it’s usual to find lizards inside the room. Breakfast is good only if you are the first arriving because they dont fill it up.
The location is good. it’s in the heart of the village. The receptionists were nice.

IrelandLocation: nightmare Staffs: not professional. Just arrived on the reception and the recepcionista was talking outside even seeing myself waiting for. The other was trying to explaing me about the air conditioning issues related with my bedroom. So, what I have to listen about their problems on my arrival. Bedrooms: a nightmare. 4 bunk beds in a tiny room with 1 sinking toilet. No option outside to be used as the layout is a disgrace. It can not be a great atmosphere for a paradise. Lookers: terrible. By wood. The doors don't slide properly and my locker could fit in the hole. Asked for a spare one they just sell it for more than 3€ instead of borrow it. Of course. It is all about money. City: Don't go to Itacare. Probably that was great a decade ago. It's so appealing. They think your a cash machine walking on the street. They are desperate about money. The prices are extremely expensive for the quality of the things. Air: stuff. Shower: dirty location and no care about windows or cleaning. Terrible facilities. Corridors : that's the Hostel just corridors to move through. Social area: if you need to work. Forget it. Terrible infrastructure for digital nomades Yoga people, etc. Che Lagarto platform: they don't chat to you just send robots messages. You ask one think they answer another one. Internet: it was enough as any other location. Energy: the vibes are not good in there. Beaches: far away. You need walk loads to get it through a road t reach that. In Barra Grande the beach is always near the accommodation. Like one minute walking. Decoration: ugly place. No Hostel atmosphere, at all. Disgraceful business. I hope Che Lagarto never croos my way again. Terrible mindset.
Breakfast is outstanding. But, no seats enough at all. A tiny breakfast area for loads of room with 4 bunk bed in each room. I had no seat for myself. I use the wall to put my plates on. Location is a nightmare in the heart of a fashion mall. It's not Bahia, it's not even Brazil. It's a fake district that is so fake as a cinematographyc place. Fleed away from Itacaré. Go to Barra Grande taking a boat from CAMAMU. Nativus boat on Mondays, on Wednesdays, on Fridays and Saturdays at 12 pm.
