The room was supposed to have two beds and it did, however one of them was a mattress on top of a super tall concrete structure that was not very conveniente to use, so we ended up sharing the other one.

it’s a great great place but the price might be just a little over budget, specially if you want to stay longer periods.

I have enjoyed everything about the guest house. Clean, comfortable with everything you need to live in. The staff is always at your dispose. Wi-Fi works good, great kitchen ware , small terrace and great location. I definitely recomend.

Well located in Copacabana. Safe, secure, quiet. Pleasant hosts. Easy walking distance to the beach (three blocks) and anything else you want in the way of food or shopping.

All the pots and pans were teflon but had been scratched up. Fine if you want teflon poisoning, but, otherwise, the stove was unusable.

The sheet covering the mattress was so thread bare, it literally ripped the 1st night we slept on it, but we just made do. Its likely a great value for younger travelers or those who have very little luggage. And who are not afraid of common spaces like the galley kitchen, and the workers who do NOT wear face masks. (we are still covid & germ cautious) We didn't like how small our room was (the one with the red wall, #3 I think). With the bed pushed to the side wall, there was barely enough room to open our large suitcases (we'd been traveling 2 months) . Still, we could have had the larger room that we gave our 18 year old son, but that was through narrow hallways, including the galley kitchen, and up some winding staircases. Given we are 60 year old Canadians, with luggage, we decided to do for the closer bedroom, just up 1 staircase.

It is cute hostel type hotel with a good $ value for a short stay. Managers friendly. Clean, quiet. AC worked. If you are staying for more than 2 nights. you can likely find a AirBnB for same price with more space. A week before, we had stayed 3 nights at a 2 bedroom AirBnB even closer to the Beach for the same $ per night. Then we traveled more, and came back for our last 2 nights in Rio. This his hostel/hotel allowed our son to have his own bathroom. Choices!

I ended up leaving this property early and the manager refused to refund the rest of the nights stay and said when I arrived at 10.50pm I should have raised my concern then. However no consideration for the time that we arrived I was unable to find another hotel that late at night. We stayed at another hotel the exact same cost as this property and it was as shown on the pictures. It was lovely clean and there was a mattress. I also seen reviews that have been removed from this property and I guess they had something to say about this hotel honestly too.

Nothing do not stay here. We arrived at 10.50pm to find a bed that had no mattress. The bathroom had glass missing from the window. I said to my partner I would try the bed for the night as you don’t know if it’s bad if you don’t sleep in it. As it was late. It had 3cm of foam on top of wood. I got bitten by mosquitoes due to the window glass missing the room was dirty. The next day when I spoke to the hotel about this they offered another room at the same standard. I then had a call from the manager who was very unprofessional and told me it was because I’m English and my standards are high. He said it’s a cheap accommodation and you should expect it to represent that way. The manager would not let me speak and wouldn’t listen to my concerns. I have been travelling for 3 months and spent less on rooms at higher standards than this hotel. To top it off the staff sleep there too all the rooms are on the same floor and you hear the staff in the corridor till 1/2am and again at 5am the doors aren’t fire doors they are just wooden doors and you hear everything.

-Bathroom (of my room at least) was small and it didn’t have hot water but for me that wasn’t a big deal. I actually didn’t ask him if it was like that or if they could have fixed it.

-Location is excellent. There’s also a market right I. front of the building. -Staff is great, and the inside of the place is very unique. -You don’t have hour restriction which is good!

This place is cool. In my opinion, this is exactly the place you want to stay when travelling to South America! The rooms and bathroom are specialist, the location is amazing, and everything one needs is really close by. Everyone is really friendly and helpful, there is also a terrace on the roof for when you want to eat or just chill and have some downtime. Very good equipped kitchen and all there to prepare meals, I loved it there. On the next opportunity travelling to Rio, I will definitely want to stay at Rio Deal Guesthouse again.
